It is through our customized programs that we create opportunities to grow our membership and provide a larger audience with whom our sponsors can network. And it is through this Mission Statement that we provide the foundation on which we create win-win-win scenarios for all---our members, our speakers, and our sponsors. Estate, Trust & Tax Group THEME: MAKING GOOD JUDGMENTS A central focus that underlies our industry is solving problems for clients and prospective clients. But problem solving is, itself, a difficult problem [i.e., how do you problem solve with efficiency, ease, and accuracy---a skill that enhances your credibility and draws more clients to you?]. One poignant solution is to implement a system for making good judgments---this single theme will span throughout this fiscal year’s programs. There are 10-basic components for making good judgments. I’ll introduce one new component per President’s Letter. And at the beginning of each meeting, I’ll take just a very few minutes to expand on that one component. Collect all 10 of the President’s Letters and you will have all 10 of the basic components, and a better understanding about a system for making good judgments. BASIC COMPONENT #1: PURPOSE What is your purpose? What is your goal? Asking these questions serve to attain greater clarity as you focus on a system for making good judgments. What can derail your ability to make good judgments is often due to unclear, unrealistic, and contradictory purposes and goals. And, because these issues are often subtle and unsuspecting, a person is often unaware that such issues exist. Subsequently, judgments are made based on faulty purposes. Come to the September 20th meeting to learn more about component #1. Scott P. Greiner, J.D., LL.M. (Taxation) Marilyn W. McWilliams, J.D. Lorni Sharrow, J.D., LL.M.
