At St. Vincent’s in Riverside, on the Southside, and in Clay County, our patients come first. The Daughters of Charity who founded St. Vincent’s in 1916 have left a legacy of our responsibility to provide the safe care that everyone deserves. And even more than that… St. Vincent’s must also provide caring and compassion to all of our patients when they enter one of our three hospitals. St. Vincent’s Foundation is proud to support our community by providing funding for programs, education, and technology to meet these needs. But, it is our staff, physicians, and nurses who provide the loving care we are known for. Please take the time to read a letter we recently received. Jane R. Lanier, CFRE, President and Chief Development Officer, St.Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation, and Dave Kulik, Chairman of the Board, St.Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation Dear Jane, My stay at St. Vincent’s began in the ER on Tuesday, February 3 (Mike was great) and I was released on Monday, February 9. I cannot say enough about the wonderful care I received from the kind, efficient nurses and staff. At night I had: Robert, Sabrina, Tim, and Macy. During the day: Taylor and Meg (3 days), Megan and Kathryn and so many others whose names I can’t remember. And, I would be remiss if I did not add that the food was delicious. Joana was a gracious hostess and introduced me to your most delicious brownies. I never thought anyone could say, “I had a pleasant stay at the hospital” but I truly did. I congratulate you on your excellent staff and the fine work they do. Cordially, Norma Spring 2015 • 3 Belk Sneak Peek Belk held a private Sneak Peek Shopping Event on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at their new location on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville, which benefited St. Vincent’s Mobile Health Outreach Ministry. St. Vincent’s appreciates out strong partnership with Belk for a healthier community. AFIB Reception The St. Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation hosted an exclusive behind the scenes tour at St. Vincent’s on February 3 at the Gary and Nancy Chartrand Heart and Vascular Center. Arne Sippens Groenewegen, MD, Samuil Oza, MD, and Anthony Magnano, MD, pictured in photo at right, invited some of their patients back to the Medical Center to hear about the exciting plans for St. Vincent’s Atrial Fibrillation Institute and to take them on a tour of an electrophysiology lab. These patients were AFIB patients and are excited to see St. Vincent’s commitment to delivering the best and the most advanced patient care through medical management or interventional techniques, such as catheter ablation, that can potentially eliminate atrial fibrillation without the use of medications. We heard about the use of a new 3D ultrasound mapping technique that not only increases the quality of care and safety for the patient, but also helps reduce radiation levels that occur during an ablation procedure. 4 • Spring 2015 The Atrial Fibrillation Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside is one of the premier centers in the nation for treatment of atrial fibrillation. We offer access to the latest advances in order to create treatment options for each individual patient. As his tenure comes to a close, we would like to recognize him for all of the amazing work he has done to support St. Vincent’s Foundation and how he has reflected our Mission each day through his many accomplishments. The Foundation has flourished under Dave’s leadership. We have been able to assist the poor and vulnerable in our community more than ever before. Most notably, under Dave’s leadership as Chairman Emeritus of Daily’s The Tradition Golf Tournament, we have raised more than 2 million dollars in the six years since the tournament was established. Benefiting St. Vincent’s Mobile Health Outreach Programs, the money raised from this tournament has impacted the lives of countless underserved families in our community. Under Dave’s leadership, our special events have raised more money than ever before. Programs like Heart Smart, The Good Samaritan Fund, The Seton Center for Women and Infants Health, Kids Together Against Cancer (KTAC), HealthTeacher, Community Outreach Programs, and Mobile Health Outreach Programs have been blessed with much needed funds to continue providing the best care to our patients and members of our community. St. Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation has supported the critical expansion of our hospital’s services under Dave’s leadership. Most notably, our Clay County Campus opened its doors and has flourished during his term. Funds from the 24th Annual Red Rose Ball, where Dave and Mary Pat were the honorary chairs, benefit the renovation of the Emergency Room and CDU (Clinical Decision Unit) at St. Vincent’s Riverside. Dave and Mary Pat, following the establishment of the Divine Mercy Chapel at St. Vincent’s Southside, also funded a beautiful chapel at St. Vincent’s Clay County, known as Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel. Now patients and families have a place to find peace and solace during their time of need while at our hospitals. We wish to thank Mary Pat for her enduring love and support. Looking toward the future, Dave and Mary Pat’s generosity will leave a lasting legacy. The Foundation Board and Staff appreciate all that Dave Kulik has done as Chairman of our Board. His embodiment of our Core Values, along with his leadership, innovation, and friendship, has allowed the Foundation to continue the St. Vincent’s Mission for our community, and for that we are forever thankful.
