OKLP NEWS FEBRUARY 2017
Volume 1, Issue 7, Edited by Tina Kelly, Chair
OKLP GROWING
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF OKLAHOMA
ADVANCES FREEDOM
January 20, 2017
On November 8, 2016, presidential candidate Gary Johnson received
83,481 votes in Oklahoma. This 5.7% showing far exceeded the 2.5% necessary to maintain recognized party status and guaranteed the Libertarian
Party of Oklahoma ballot access for the next two years.
This past Thursday at a regular meeting, the Libertarian Party of Oklahoma
officially recognized two new umbrella organizations: the Cherokee County
Libertarians and the Central Region Libertarians.
These two groups are the first to complete the necessary chartering requirements and pave the way for
the numerous others across the state looking to do
the same.
State Party Chair Tina Kelly said, “Recognizing these
two groups is a milestone in the Party’s history, signifying that we are here to stay. I wholeheartedly
welcome the enthusiasm and talent their members
bring to the table.”
Every day more and
more Oklahomans are
realizing that the two
establishment parties OKLP Chair Tina Kelly, CR Chair Bryan Beavers
are incapable of stepping up to the plate and
protecting the rights of all citizens when it
matters most. External competition is necessary to challenge the concentration of power
which has taken place within the current system, much to the detriment of our country.

Feb 1 - Month long State & Nat'l memberships drive
Feb 2 - Liberty on Tap Tulsa
The OKLP has launched the WTF? Where’s The Freedom Project. The
intention is to look at each and every bill introduced in the House and
Senate during the 2017 legislative session.
6pm, Chimi's 15th & Peoria, Topic Jury Nullification
The Libertarian Party of Oklahoma is dedicated to advancing the principles of liberty in our state and we see this project as a way to bring the
average citizen into the political process. By shining a light on the most
outrageous and dangerous bills, we improve the odds that they can be
stopped before becoming law and those legislators involved can be held
accountable.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
E-mail [email protected] to find out just how

A MONTHLY GUIDE FOR
AFFILIATE COORDINATORS
FOCUS:
The focus for February is a statewide OKLP/LP registration
drive and a ramping up of the WTF? Project.
RESULTS: Concrete actions might include:
 Organizing a Party membership drive in your neighborhood, local
community center or nearby college
 Looking at the bills your representative has proposed and call him or
her to express your opinion
 Take part in social media discussions and help spread the word about
the worst bills.
Don’t forget that participation in the national
party is important too. In addition to funding
crucial projects, those memberships help Oklahoma Libertarians have a bigger voice at the
national conventions. Our state delegate count
is based in part on the number of national
memberships we have on the books in December of the year previous to the year the convention is held in. Become a national member
HERE.
EMPOWER:
 Bring in a speaker to talk about how to read proposed legislation
 Organize an outing to the capitol and lobby for/against
legislation important to your group
 Discuss how good faith Libertarians can disagree on legislation
 As a group read a book about the philosophy of libertarianism
ENERGIZE: What got your group excited this month? Let us know
and share pictures for next months newsletter!

organization and oversight of the preservation of Party historical records with a goal to
make them widely and publicly available as
well as the administration of LPedia.org (a
wiki-style historical site) to facilitate this
dissemination.
This Committee will be comprised of LNC
appointed Committee Chair Caryn Ann Harlos and up to four (4) additional members to
be appointed by her. Additional volunteers
are solicited to assist this Committee in the
discharge of its duties, so all willing persons
are encouraged to apply.
