Clamping the toothed belt 5 In the untensioned status, the strands (C) of the toothed belt 5 are lightly arched. • If necessary, loosen the screws 2 only so much that a relative movement between the motor and the lower part 1 is just possible. • Tension the toothed belt 5 slightly until both strands (C) run just parallel, that is they are no longer curved, as follows: With EAMM-U-50/-60/-86: – By moving the motor by hand with the specified clamping force Fv ( Table). With EAMM-U-110/-145: – By moving the motor using the clamping element bD as follows: D • Place the clamping ele2 ment bD into the hole (D) in 1 the lower part 1. bD • Tighten the clamping element bD with a spanner ß 8 and the recommended torque ( Table). The notches of the seal aG and the small holes in the recess must be positioned on top of each other. • Attach the motor to the lower part 1 using all the screws 2, the seals aE and square nuts 91). • Tighten the screws 2 only lightly at first to ensure that the motor can still be moved in the elongated hole. 4. Mounting of toothed belt 5, toothed belt pulleys 6, clamping sleeves 3/4 5 3 4 6 EAMM-U-… With EAMM-U-110-D…-100AS1: • Push the motor towards the axis up to the stop. • Only lubricate the thread and cone of the clamping sleeves 3/4 with grease bC. 15980d_4 Greasing makes it easier to tighten the clamping sleeves 3/4 later and avoids stick-slip effects. • Insert the clamping sleeves 3/4 into the toothed belt pulleys 6. • Lightly turn the clamping sleeves 3/4 into the thread. • Place the toothed belt pulleys 6 on the toothed belt 5. • Put the clamping sleeves 3/4 on the corresponding drive shafts. • When tightening the toothed belt pulley 6, note that the surface (A) must be aligned flush with the reference surface (B) on the lower part 1. 1)2) 2c. Tool bC B 15980d_19 aB 15980d_30 aD 5 • Place the seal aB onto the motor flange. • Observe the permitted tightening torques ( Section 0). • Clean the shafts of the motor and axis. The clamping sleeves 3 and 4 can only achieve a slip-free grip on dry and grease-free drive shafts. 2. Parts lists 2a. Parallel kit EAMM-U-…-D…-…A-S1 A 50/60 Note After each release or change in the position of the motor: • Start a homing sequence for the axis. 2 15980d_2 Warning Risk of injury due to uncontrolled movements of the axis! Before assembly or disassembly: • Make sure that the motor is de-energised. • Observe the safety notes in the operating instructions for the motor and axis. • Make sure there are supplementary safety measures for applications in which a belt failure could be the cause of an injury. 6 1 aD 1 The kit is intended to connect an axis with a motor in parallel configuration ( Section 10) and fulfils protection class IP65. When starting to tighten, the surface (A) should be about 1 mm in front of the reference surface (B), since the toothed belt pulley 6 moves inward during tightening by about this value. Tensioned: x = y C 15346d_22 C • Tighten the screws 2 in order to mount the motor. Note 6 2 A 5 1 B 15980d_8 A low pretension force is better than a high pretension force. Excessive pretensioning of the toothed belt results in: – impermissible radial loads/shaft break – increased wear in the axis and motor bearings – reduction of the service life of the toothed belt For sizes 110 and 145: 6 A 2 D Otherwise, the toothed belt 5 or toothed belt pulleys 6 will rub against the lower part 1 or upper part 7, which in both cases will result in premature wear or jamming. 1 aA If the tolerance is exceeded: • Lightly loosen the clamping sleeve • Re-adjust the toothed belt pulleys 6. 15346d_17 2) Opposite screw direction for EAMM-U-…-42A-S1: Attach the lower part 1 to the motor using all the screws 2 and seals aE. Square nuts 9 are not required for this. For EAMM-U-110/145, the blanking plug aA is needed. 15346d_23 50 86 15980d_5 Fv [N] A 3)4)5) 1) Clamping force bD 3) 4) 5) For motor interface 100A, the seal aG is needed. For EAMM-U-110/145, the counter bearing is attached using 2 screws bB. For EAMM-U-110/145, the clamping element bD is needed as a tool. Continued on the other side • Press the blanking plug aA into the hole (D) in the lower part 1. 6. Dismantling of toothed belt 5, toothed belt pulleys 6, clamping sleeves 3/4 E • Unscrew the toothed belt pulleys 6 while holding the clamping sleeves 3/4. • After loosening the screw pretension, 6 3 4 continue to turn the hexagonal nut (E) anti-clockwise to pull the toothed belt pulleys 6 off the cone of the clamping sleeve 3/4. 3 • Pull the clamping sleeves 3/4 off the drive shaft. 15980d_14 4 6 15980d_15 7. Mounting of the counter bearing aH … bB Information A counter bearing reduces the load of the axis or motor bearings to improve the service life in the case of high loads. If the counter bearing is included as standard, Festo considers it necessary to mount it on the axis-side to achieve the expected service life. In all other cases, the use of a counter bearing is also optionally possible on the axis and/or motor side www.festo.com/catalogue. 5 aH • Mount the toothed belt 5, toothed belt pulleys 6 and clamping sleeves aH/bJ ( Section 4). aH/F EAMM-U-… aI H G 6 1 15980d_10 bB bA G bJ/F • Mount the needle bush (G) in the counter bearing aI/bA onto the trunnion (F) of the clamping sleeve aH/bJ without tension • Fasten the counter bearing aI/bA to the hole (H) using the screw bB. 8.
