English alone is not enough
“You can buy in your own
language, but you must sell in
the language of your customer.”
English is just a tool, not a nifty skill.
You have to know Swedish or
Hungarian to stand out from the
crowd.
A student of mine, quoted from memory
Multilingualism
Multilingualism is the act of using
multiple languages either by an
individual speaker or by a community of
speakers. Multilingual speakers
outnumber monolingual speakers in the
world's population.
Plurilingualism
Plurilingualism is a situation wherein a
person who has competence in more
than one language can switch between
languages – from one language to
another and vice versa – according to the
circumstances at hand for the purpose of
coping with a social matter.
Language policy of the EU
Every European citizen should master
two other languages in addition to their
mother tongue.
