Biography
A singer like no other
Maya is not like other singers; she wasn’t born like other singers, for the simple reason
that Maya wasn’t born at all in the first place. She’s, well, virtual. Maya is the sum of a
spontaneous era and she will rapidly become the idol of the young women and men of
her generation. Like them, she is living in the moment, curious about everything and
accountable for nothing.
Maya faces the future with confidence because she IS the future!
Maya discovers the world with wide-open eyes, just like her fans emerging from their
teens. She is passionate about music, as is her following, for which music is the
language of love, dance and joie de vivre. Maya creates her own look by mixing
together a thousand and one elements of past, present and future fashion styles. She is
a work in progress, looking to define herself; she will succeed in her quest for selfdiscovery, as will her public alongside her.
On stage, Maya transforms herself in spectacular fashion under our very eyes, all the
while maintaining her personality, her looks and even the strange tattoo she sports.
Depending on the song, she has fun becoming gigantic and green only to morph the
moment after into a flying, fire-breathing dragon, a discreet swallow or to simply
become invisible.

A little history lesson
Before we talk about the future, some details about the past. Maya’s origin and destiny
are so particular, they deserve a short flashback.
Remember: the coming of the year 21st century was tainted by the fear of the so-called
Year 2000 bug. Everybody was talking about how it would affect all of the planet’s
information systems. Well, as we all know now, nothing happened.
Nothing, really? Well, that isn’t exactly true. Because, see, at the last moment,
somewhere in Cyberspace, some sort of code came together haphazardly in a
nanosecond and repaired the entire information network in a flash. At the same time,
this code created an amazing amount of data, which accumulated in the next sixteen
years into an encyclopedia of the world’s knowledge.
Maya is born
Mary Shelley, the author who created Frankenstein’s monster, would have been proud:
the improbable creation she foresaw finally happened, although in the digital age. And
without any rage, just a lot of range.
Alison Wright, a young computer genius working in a top-secret and ultra-sophisticated
private information facility, was concentrating on a particularly hard problem when she
accidentally freed a code giving birth to Maya. The mass of data, no longer contained,
transformed itself into a young creature.
Once born, Maya took the appearance of the very pretty Alison and instinctively
understood that in this new world, a pure artificial intelligence entity could readily bond

with its human inhabitants by using the most sublime and universal method of
communication: music.
The music Alison was listening to when Maya came into being, energetic and modern
electronic pop, inspired Maya’s musical tastes.
If Alison and music played an important part in the first moments of her existence,
Maya quickly established her own independent and buoyant personality.
After all, via Internet, Maya has access, in a flash, to all the knowledge and cultures of
humanity, to the stories of its past and present and to its successes and mistakes. It’s
more than enough to help build and shape a distinct personality. Of a curious nature,
Maya will pick and choose data from East and West, past and future, to forge her own
musical style and her own personal look that will have an important effect on fashion.
Maya isn’t perfect; anybody who uses sophisticated technology knows the meaning of
the word ‘’glitch’’. Maya is no exception. She will sometimes develop a verbal tic, or
make a strange but amusing movement. There will even be times when Maya
spontaneously invents a word or an expression, something her fans will adopt and help
spread around, to the bemusement of non-aficionados.
Why Maya?
Why ‘’Maya’’? Simply because it is the acronym of ‘’Modern Animated Young
Algorithm’’, her official appellation in the files of the laboratory where she was born.
Luckily for her and for us, the name has a nice ring to it. As we watch her go, we‘ll
notice that whatever the particular circumstances of her creation, Maya will gradually
become more and more independent, proving she is nobody’s puppet.

Who is Maya?
So Maya exists, but she is a strange animal indeed. It’s difficult to give her an age…a
logical thing to say, since she has none! But she has the appearance of a young and
beautiful Caucasian woman in her twenties with a very nice voice with which she speaks
flawless English.
Maya had no childhood, no adolescence, and one could say she is, in some ways, as
oblivious as a newborn, but she does possess all the world’s knowledge, including
wisdom. In other words, she is the incarnation of simultaneous innocence and experience.
This switch from innocence to experience is not automatic and doesn’t go off without a
hitch. Indeed, as with Ariel, the little mermaid who stumbles once her fishtail has been
replaced by legs, Maya will function by trial and error at first. Morphing from a ball of
energy into a young modern woman takes some getting used to.
But Maya will quickly adjust to our universe. She will observe us and will try to
communicate with her weapon of massive seduction of choice: music. But the music will
just be the tip of the iceberg concerning Maya’s talents: every form of communication
interests her. She instinctively feels that the reason she came to be in this world of humans
is to communicate and who knows, maybe to influence it in some way.
There are the songs, of course, but we’ll quickly see that Maya has ambition. She wants to
reach every being on the planet and to do so, she will use every means of modern
communication. Of course, the stage is the first place where she can let herself go; but
almost immediately, the Web will become her true realm. We will naturally find her video
clips there, but also interviews where this virtual creature will interact with the famous and
the powerful, from the musical world and beyond.
Maya will of course be very active on all social media. It will also prove interesting to see
with whom Maya develops friendships or conflicts in the show business world of pop stars.

Maya’s quests
Maya possesses scientific and general knowledge, and the voice and talent of a being
made of pure energy. But there is one thing she is not: a real human being. All through
her life, her career and especially her shows, that will be her quest: to understand
human beings, to learn to resemble them, to talk and sing to them, to finally grasp what
are those mysterious things called emotions: joy, anger, fear and above all, love?
Maya seeks to understand emotions to blend in with humanity, all the while aware that
she will always be different. While it’s obvious she possesses emotions, it’s no easy
matter for her. You and I will be confused by them during our childhood and
understand them better as we grow older. For Maya, they form a interweaving mass of
conflicting feelings she has to untangle, including the most complex emotion of all:
love. Love and acceptance are her two main quests.
We talked about Maya’s efforts with emotions. In theory, these are totally mysterious to
her; being virtual, she doesn’t feel them. But she’s been drawn to them since her birth
in this world, beginning with the gentleness with which Alison greeted her and took her
under her wing, making her discover the world of music. Since those first instants, she
tries to use her formidable musical talents to bridge the gap between herself, the
ambassador for artificial intelligence, and human beings, who possess the secret of
amicable of affectionate emotions. This quest will dictate most of the content of her
songs.
From the virtual world, Maya will try to find her way in the real world by gaining our trust
and our affection. Her public, who shares with her this quest for love, will amply lavish
her with this affection. And music is the best tool to facilitate this interaction.

Maya’s future
Very quickly, someone will invite himself in the universe of our heroine: Alison’s uncle,
Commander Porker, who rapidly sees in ‘’Maya the amazing polymorphous singer’’ a
veritable gold mine. Porker will try to impose himself as her manager. The music scene
is not immune to the influence of sharks and swindlers; can Maya the virtual and
virtuous become a star and stay true to herself without being ripped off or developing a
swelled head? With her naivety cause her problems?
After a while, Maya’s story will go beyond the stage and pop music to develop and
grow in other medias like video games, comic books and animation. And let’s not
forget movies; since Avatar and the numerous cinematographic universes that marry
virtual creations and reality, the world has been waiting for a unique character like
Maya.
When Maya’s development takes such a turn, a richer dramatic story arc will come out
of it: Maya the virtual singer, with the help of her friend Alison, will discover that she
exists in our midst to accomplish a superhero’s greatest mission in cyberspace: protect
and defend humanity from evil artificial intelligence creations who wish its destruction!

Maya and her fans
Let’s talk about those fans. There is no bigger fanatic (in the right sense of the
term) than those who follow their musical idols. Even if we have no intention of
limiting Maya to a single specific audience, it’s well known that young and
talented singers like Maya provoke near-hysteria among their teenage female
followers. They want to dress like their idol, talk like her, BE like her. And with the
virtual Maya, that phenomenon will be increased tenfold. Without getting into byproducts for the moment, it’s clear that these will play an important part in
Maya’s universe.
But bear in mind that Maya can’t be bought. She wants to be popular, but she
will resist participating in anything she deems unworthy and will always contest
the shenanigans of her manager in this matter.

Maya’s personality
Maya doesn’t let anybody push her around: she has spunk and character. It’s not
because she has little experience in our reality that she can be conned and
manipulated. After all, she nourishes herself with the complete data of human
experience. She has her heroes, people who have left their mark in history (especially
women) and can also understand and use humor. She has excellent taste and creates
her own clothing for the stage and for everyday life. She has chosen the people who
work alongside her, her musicians and dancers, whom she directs with a sturdy
hand…in a velvet glove.
If Maya was indeed born in an instant and possesses a child-like charm and a certain
naivety, she’s no damsel in distress. She has character, courage, humor and wit, as we
will witness when she gives interviews and press conferences. There is no journalist, no
talk-show host on the planet that intimidates her. Her only fear would be to let her fans
down, and that won’t happen.
The real Maya will be the one we see on stage. The one with the imagination, the spirit,
the magic and the talent to conquer our hearts.
REMEMBER THE NAME: MAYA.
