This GVMVC Spring Concert celebrates our twentieth
anniversary with pieces that, we believe, say something
about who we are, the goals we wish to accomplish and
the hope for which we strive.
The powerful words and music of the following four
songs especially inspire us. We offer them as both
personal testimony and encouragement for all.
Things That Never Die
Words -Charles Dickens + Music- Lee Dengler
The pure, the bright, the beautiful that stirred our hearts in youth,
the impulses to wordless prayer, the streams of love and truth,
the longing after something lost, the spirit's yearning cry,
the striving after better hopes.
These things can never die.
The timid hand stretched forth to aid a brother in his need,
a kindly word in grief's dark hour that moves a friend indeed,
the plea for mercy softly breathed when justice threatens high,
the sorrow of a contrite heart.
These things shall never die.
Let nothing pass, for ev'ry hand must find some work to do.
Lose not a chance to waken love. Be firm and just and true,
so shall a light that cannot fade beam on thee from on high,
and angel voices say to thee.
These things can never die.

I believe in the sun, even when it is not shining
and I believe in love even when there's no one there.
And I believe in God even when He is silent.
I believe through any trial there is always a way.
But sometimes in this suffering and hopeless despair,
my heart cries for shelter, to know someone's there.
But a voice rises within me saying hold on my child,
I'll give you strength, I'll give you hope,
just stay a little while.
