beginning to change, and
making holiday plans is on our to-do lists. During this time of thanksgiving and
cheer, we would like to say “Thank You!” for attending our luncheons and joining
us on our many adventures—we hope you will continue to do so!
As the holiday season approaches many of us are preparing to enjoy delicious
meals and are looking forward to spending time with our friends and family.
Yet, the holiday season is also a time to reflect on our many blessings and give
a little back to the community. We hope you will join us in giving back to our
community.
Throughout the month of November and December we will collect canned goods
for the Food Bank of East Alabama; help us Beat Bama! in the annual Food Drive.
And we will collect the items listed below for Rainbow Omega, a non-profit or-
ganization located in Eastaboga, Ala., that provides residential and vocational
programs for 79 adults with developmental disabilities.

Recycling Event
The City of Auburn’s Environmental Services DepartmentRecycling Division, Auburn
Chamber of Commerce and
Waste Recycling Inc. are
hosting a FREE secure document shredding and electronic recycling from 9 a.m.2 p.m. on Nov. 12, at the
Auburn Chamber of
Commerce Parking lot.

November 4: Seniors Day at the National Peanut Festival, Dothan, AL; the
registration deadline has passed. Please contact the Dean Road Recreation Center to be added to the waiting list. When: 11/4, 8:45 a.m.-6 p.m.
November 18: Coffee Break: Afternoon Tour and Social at The Columbus
Museum; the registration deadline has passed. Please contact the Dean
Road Recreation Center to be added to the waiting list. When: 11/18,
10:45 a.m.-3 p.m.
December Trips…
December 5: The Marietta Pilgrimage: A Christmas Home Tour; Registration
deadline: Wednesday, November 24 at 5 p.m.; cost of the trip is $17, which
includes transportation and admission (lunch is not included.) Step behind
closed doors and unwrap the heritage of Marietta, GA with this charming
holiday home tour. When: 12/5, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
December 9: Guys & Dolls, Faulkner University Dinner Theatre; Registration
deadline: Friday, November 5 at 5 p.m.; cost of the trip is $30.
Auburn Community
Theatre Production
The Auburn Area Community
Theatre will open their Fall
season with “All I Really Need
to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” Performances will be
held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12-13
and Nov. 18-20. A 2 p.m. performance will be shown on
Nov. 14 and 21. Admission is
$8 for seniors. Call 332–2552

The Great Alabama Homecoming!
This November, thousands will hit the road to visit Auburn for the Auburn Tigers Homecoming Game on November 6th. Whether you’re celebrating Auburn football, returning to your college home or enjoying the
festivities in your permanent hometown, the City of Auburn wants you
to make yourself at home. The City will host homecoming festivities of
its own, celebrating Auburn’s rich history and cultural roots. The City of
Auburn Homecoming will encompass a whole weekend of fun and excitement. Welcome Home, Auburn!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake
A new twist on an old favorite
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 40 Minutes
Ready in: 4 hours, 10 minutes
Ingredients:
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened,
1/2 cup white sugar,
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 eggs,
1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust, 1/2 cup pumpkin puree,
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 pinch ground cloves, 1 pinch ground
nutmeg, 1/2 cup frozen whipped topping, thawed
Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla. Beat until
smooth. Blend in eggs one at a time. Remove 1 cup of batter and spread
into bottom of crust; set aside.
Add pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg to the remaining batter and
stir gently until well blended. Carefully spread over the batter in the crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center is almost set.
Allow to cool, then refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight. Cover with
whipped topping before serving.
