AUDREY A. FISCH [email protected] Bio Dr. Audrey Fisch serves as Professor of English and Coordinator of Secondary English Education at New Jersey City University, where she has trained a cadre of diverse, first-generation college students to become highly-skilled and committed English teachers in urban public schools. She counts several Fulbright winners and one school superintendent among her alumni. At NJCU, Fisch’s administrative responsibilities have included leadership of the University-wide Promotion Committee, a Presidential Task Force on Graduation and Retention, and a Tenure Coaching Program for junior faculty. She created a College-wide Writing Assessment Program to raise the writing competence of all certification students in the College of Education and established a paid Teacher Training Program, with a $100,000 annual budget, to develop undergraduates as tutors, aides, and mentors in community schools. Fisch is a widely-recognized scholar of the African-American slave narrative and Mary Shelley. Her recent research is centered on educational standards, literacy, and assessment.
