Purple Ribbon Giftshop Now Open

If you are looking for some special
gifts for a wedding or other special
occasion then the Purple Ribbon
Gift Shop has what you need.
Owner Lucy Roundpoint has been
kicking the idea around for this
craft shop for years and as early as
last fall it started to become a reality. She had the concept nailed
down to the last detail. Said Lucy,
"I recognized the need for a different kind of community gift shop.
Although there were a number of
Akwesasne outlets that focused on
native wares, there really wasn't a
shop that catered to customers
with various tastes. No matter how
proud we are of our native theme
gifts, there are times when an
alternate would be appropriate.
When such occasions arise, community members had to go to
Cornwall or Massena. Now they
have a local choice - "Purple
Ribbon", in the Peace Tree Trade
Center, named in honor of
Akwesasne's unofficial dominant
color, and ornament that adorns
our traditional shirts."

have unique selections of picture
frames with clan emblems on
them.
Just walking into the shop is a nice
experience, as everything is laid
out carefully. It has an atmosphere
that is very relaxing which was
designed to help the shopper.
Lucy also said, "a store in
Massena advertises, 'If we don't
have it, you don't need it.' The
Purple Ribbon advertises, 'You
don't need the gift, purchased
here, you only need the appreciation when you give it.'"
