STOLEN CELL PHONE GPS HELPS POLICE APPREHEND THEFT SUSPECT
A stolen cell phone’s GPS allowed Vacaville police officers to locate and arrest a
suspect in the theft of the device.
Police received a call at approximately 7:15 a.m. Thursday from a victim who told
police she had left her purse inside her vehicle while dropping off her children at day
care. The purse, with her cell phone inside, had been stolen.
The victim indicated she had gone to work and accessed an internet application to
locate her cell phone using its GPS system. The victim told police the cell phone was
currently in the area of Boone Court.
Officers responded to that location and found Jimmie Primus, 18, of Vacaville
walking in the area. Primus was in possession of the victim’s cell phone, and officers
later located the victim’s purse, which had been discarded a short distance away from
where it was stolen. Primus was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for
possession of stolen property.
The Vacaville Police Department encourages citizens to remove all items of value
from your vehicle when exiting, even for short durations.
