With the BODAS display DI3 series, Bosch Rexroth offers
freely configurable and high-resolution VGA color displays with
powerful integrated 32-bit graphics processor for use in mobile
working machines. These can be used for displaying alphanumeric elements, process variables and operating states, as
well as static and dynamic graphic elements, such as pointer
instrument and menus, for instance.
The robust displays were specially developed for use in mobile
working machines, and satisfy the relevant safety requirements
with regard to ambient temperature, impermeability, resistance
to shock and vibration, as well as electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC). The displays are intended for installation or mounting
in the cab and provide excellent display clearness, even in
sunlight or under worse climatical conditions, due to the lowreflection real glass panel with antifog-coating and the sun
shield integrated into the case frame.
BODAS displays DI3 are intended for direct connection to a
12 V or 24 V on-board vehicle network. The internal real-time
clock with calendar function is retentive in case of supply voltage interruption. The contrast of the display and the brightness
of the double backlighting can be adjusted. Communication
between the display and BODAS controllers or other network
controllers on the machine takes place via CAN bus. All
electric connections are combined in one connector.
The display version with video interface also enables direct
connection of one or two video sources in accordance with
PAL or NTSC standard (e.g. BODAS color video camera from
Bosch Rexroth) for workspace or rear view monitoring. The power for the camera is supplied directly through the display (7 V,
9 V or 12 V configurable). Depending on the configuration of
the user interface, the video signals transmitted by the cameras
can appear on the display either as superimposed pictures
(image-in-image) or as a complete picture.
Six freely programmable function buttons, developed according
to ergonomic considerations, are integrated into the case of
the BODAS display DI3 for operator input and menu navigation. The displays also have an ergonomically designed central
rotary control (jog dial) for navigating quickly on and between
the different screen pages or menus.
The application-specific display of screen pages, context
menus, graphic elements, video signals, etc., is freely defined
by the operator using the Windows-based BODAS DCT 1.0
/ DCT 2.0 (Display Configuration Tool) PC configuration tool
and is transferred by downloading onto the integrated flash
memory of the BODAS display DI3.

Description
An additional function is that the BODAS display DI3 can be
used as a diagnostics and service interface for a BODAS
system configuration.
For this, the parameter settings, which are in the BODAS
controllers RC, can also be read out, changed and rewritten via
the DI3 CAN interface.
Providing the BODAS controllers RC used are equipped with
a CAN diagnostics interface, no additional tool is required for
diagnostics/parameter settings when a DI3 is employed.
BODAS DCT 1.0 / DCT 2.0
(Display Configuration Tool)
The Rexroth software tool BODAS DCT (Display Configuration Tool) offers the user a Windows-based interface for easy,
customer-specific configuration of
–– Device settings
diagrams, etc.) to be integrated easily in the display pages
designed by the user.
The dynamic input parameters based on CAN protocol (J1939
and proprietary), such as speed values, temperatures, adjustments, etc., can be assigned directly to the appropriate display
elements using the BODAS DCT.
The whole definition and assignment process is graphically
supported and enables the desired input volumes to be implemented and displayed within the shortest time on the BODAS
display DI3. The designed interfaces are displayed on the PC
during the definition process, without the configuration file
having to be downloaded onto the display.
The configuration designed by the customer is converted by
push of a button and flashed on the BODAS display DI3.
BODAS DCT library
The library supplied with the display offers the BODAS DCT
user the option to use a set of predefined graphic elements
to design the display pages, in order to create an operational
system in the shortest time.
–– Graphic display pages (e.g. dashboard)
–– Fonts
–– Parameter settings and diagnostics pages
A list of available library elements is shown below:
–– Menus
–– Dashboard instruments (e.g. temperature, rpm, speed, fill
level) in gauge or bar graph format
–– Dialog boxes/pop-ups
–– Alarm messages
–– Value fields
–– Video pages (DI3 Video only)
–– Table elements
The design, layout and number of display elements for each
display page can be freely designed by the user on the PC.
Prior knowledge or knowledge of programming is not required.
The BODAS DCT enables predefined or freely designed elements and bitmaps (e.g. customer logos, display instruments,
