Modifications for Student with LD in Reading, Writing, and
Listening Comprehension
The modifications were adjusted so that the student may have extra time to
work on the test in a quiet environment. It has been broken into three sections:
1) Listening (Escuchemos) and Writing (Escribamos), 2) Reading and Culture,
and 3) Vocabulary and Grammar. I broke it up this way so that there is a break
in the writing amounts. Each section’s directions have been underlined, and the
word “directions,” pictures, and other important key words have been bolded so
that it is easier to notice. In section J, the verb infinitives are added in to make
the student realize that the response will need those verbs. In section K, there
are only two options instead of three in order to just focus on whether it is
preterite or imperfect tense.
In the listening section, the student will be allowed to have the script in front
of him/her to follow while listening to it, or the teacher/aide may read the script
to the student for better understanding. In the reading section, the student can
have the teacher/aide read the directions and steps to him/her, assisting with any
misunderstanding or word differentiation. In the writing section, the topics have
been simplified to make it easier for the student to organize his/her thoughts.
