As for classroom placement, we make every effort to maintain balanced student
populations in all of our classrooms. In balancing classrooms we will be considering
gender, academic performance, special needs, attendance, personality combinations,
your input, and other extenuating circumstances. Current classroom teachers will
divide their students into heterogeneous groups, based on the criteria above. They
will also examine which future classroom will best meet the learning style of
individual children. Please understand that we are not able to take specific teacher
requests and there is no guarantee that students will be placed in the same
classroom as their siblings who came before them. Our staff members know
your children well and strive to find a great match for each of them.

What is your dream for schools in Oregon? Students, parents and community members are invited to
share their ideas for the future of education in Oregon during a community gathering on May 12 at 6
p.m. at Summit High School. This event is part of a statewide effort called Oregon Rising, which is a
collaboration between the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators, Oregon School Boards
Association and the Oregon Education Association. The goal of the campaign is to collect thoughts
from 10,000 Oregonians and to communicate those ideas to the state Legislature in 2017. Bend-La
Pine Schools staff members and administrators will be on hand during the event May 12 to listen to
your ideas. We are excited to hear your vision of what you want for our students now and into the
future.
