GULF INDIAN HIGH SCHOOL, DUBAI A VISIT TO THE SHARJAH AQUARIUM AND SHARJAH MARITIME MUSEUM Date: 02.06.2015 to 04.06.2015 Grades: II & III Field trips give children a welcome break in routine. Learning in assorted ways can appeal to learners. Field trips can result in greater achievement in all subjects. By seeing real-life application of the lessons that they are learning in school, children might be more likely to understand and appreciate the importance and relevance of what they are learning. The students of Grades II & III visited the Sharjah Aquarium and Sharjah Maritime Museum between 2nd June to 4th June 2015 to explore the fascinating hidden world of the deep sea with its amazing creatures. Children had a close-up look at the local fish types and learnt about Sharjah’s Historic Coasts and Ports. The Museum has over 150 species to see, from the smallest Clown Fish to Moray Eels and Poisonous Snakes and Sharks. They also had an underwater journey. Our children saw the smaller marine life found in the rock pools, coral reefs, lagoons and mangroves. THE AQUARIUM IS A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN AND HAVE FUN! Visit this aquarium to experience the hidden wonders of Sharjah’s rich marine life!!!! `GULF INDIAN HIGH SCHOOL, DUBAI REPORT ON CLEAN UP DRIVE BY THE PRIMARY SECTION Date: 01.06.2015 to 04.06.2015 It has been a priority in GIHS to create awareness among the children and to encourage them to work and contribute towards a clean and green environment. The aim of the event was to create awareness among the students about the environment and inculcate a sense of responsibility. Clean up Drive On the eve of World Environment Day, students from Grades I to IV participated in the Clean up Drive. In keeping with the teachings of Gandhiji of keeping one’s neighbourhood clean, Grade I students cleaned their classrooms. The volunteers of Grades II, III and IV cleaned the garbage strewn all around the ground. Armed with garbage bags, broom sticks etc., the students picked up all the plastic and paper that they found on the ground. This they did with great enthusiasm. After a tiring but highly satisfying experience, students returned to their respective class rooms. Their message to the surrounding populace is loud and clear – Cleanliness is next to godliness. GULF INDIAN HIGH SCHOOL, DUBAI MODESH DELIGHTS YOUNG FANS IN GIHS Date:19.5.15 Dubai’s ever–smiling character, Modesh has been visiting schools in the UAE to spread the messages of fun and joy and to invite children to experience the exciting line-up of attractions at Modesh World, one of the region’s biggest edutainment destinations for families. The bubbly Modesh surprised our children and brought big smiles on their faces during a Meet-and-Greet tour. He visited the Kindergarten and Primary Sections . Children were excited to see Modesh in their class rooms. Modesh shook his hand with children and took photographs with them. Modesh showered his affection on the young fans by giving away complimentary entry passes to his home at Modesh World in the Dubai World Trade Centre. Modesh is injecting a refreshing wave of excitement and fun during his visit to schools, to connect with children and help instill in them the universal values of love, sharing and caring and also to drum up awareness of the family fun that has been lined up at Modesh World this summer.
