Today we are going to revise similes
and metaphors and discuss how they
help us imagine what a character
looks like in a poem.

• What is the difference?
• A simile is a comparison. It is when we
compare one thing to another using the
words like or as
For example: He was so hungry his
stomach rumbled like thunder.
• Her nose was like a small red button.
• Her feet were as big as flippers.
• A metaphor is a comparison where we
say one thing is another. We do not
use like or as.
For example:
She is a witch
• He is a bear
• He is a snake in the grass.
