DON’T FORGET!
When MULTIPLYING decimals, it is
important to remember to:
1) Multiply as if the decimals aren’t there
(NO NEED TO LINE UP DECIMALS),
2) Find the TOTAL # of digits to the RIGHT
of the decimal points in the numbers you
multiplied (this example shows 2 and 1 so 3
total decimal places)
3) Place the decimal point in your answer
so there are the same TOTAL # of decimal
places to the right of your answer’s decimal
(this example has 3 places to the right of
the decimal).

DON’T FORGET!
When ADDING and SUBTRACTING
fractions, you must:
1) have common denominators (look for
the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR!)
2) write your answer in lowest
terms/convert to mixed number if
necessary:
When SUBTRACTING mixed numbers, you
can:
1) “borrow” from your whole number to
create an improper fraction to help solve,
2) or you can convert all mixed numbers
into improper fractions! (Just remember to
simplify!)
