WINTER II YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
CASCO BAY BRANCH
STEM Explorers
Ages 5-9
Wednesdays 5-6pm
Students will learn to create novel solutions to problems through the skills they already know combined with hands on
demonstrations of scientific principles. Introductions to the engineering design process will build confidence that it is
okay not to know the answer and through working with our friends we can rapidly come up with solutions to difficult problems. Students in this course will have a project to bring home at the end of
each session.
Yoga Club
Ages 6-10 years
Tuesdays 4-5pm
Children will be exposed to a series of balancing and strengthening yoga poses, breath work and reflection through journaling. Participants will experience an array of yoga themed games and art projects.
Youth Ballet
Ages 7-14 (prior ballet experience required)
Sundays 12:20-1:15pm
Taught by Ballet Master, Bryan Matluk, this class designed for students with some prior Ballet experience and
who want to improve grace and coordination. All classes will start with essential barre work and progress to
centre and stretching exercises. Ballet slippers, ballet tights and leotards are required.
Youth Martial Arts
Ages 7-14
Saturdays 10:00-10:45am
Martial Arts can improve self-confidence, body awareness, strength,
flexibility, etc. Instructor, Bill Whitten has over 20 years of Martial Arts
experience and is passionate about sharing his talents with others.
His youth classes are particularly popular due to his focus on learning
life skills though Martial Arts.
KIDS NIGHT OUT
AGES: 4-12

Stem Builders
Ages 10-14
Wednesdays 6-7pm
Students will build upon skills they already have from their educations and the introduction of more advanced skills to
create a team solution to a given problem. Students will rely on the engineering design process to
help them build a portfolio to demonstrate the changes made along the solution path. Students will
learn skills working in a team and practice distributing work to the strength of the individual members. Students in this course will be able to learn how to use more advanced crafting methods in a
safe and exciting manner.
Middle School Athletic Conditioning – Be Quick, Jump High (plyometrics & agility)
Mondays & Wednesdays 3:00-3:45pm
This class is for middle schoolers who are interested in becoming faster and more athletic. It will consist of a circuit of
a wide array of athletic/explosive movements. Very few, if any, weights will be used and the goal of the class isn’t to
exhaust the participants, but rather to create athletic movement patterns. Instructed by Nick Whittaker, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
High School Plyometrics & Core Conditioning
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:00-3:45pm
This class is for high schoolers who are interested in becoming faster and more athletic. It will consist of a circuit of a
wide array of athletic/explosive movements. Very few, if any, weights will be used and the goal of the class isn’t to
exhaust the participants, but rather to create athletic movement patterns. Instructed by Nick Whittaker, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist
High School Strength Conditioning-Level I
Mondays or Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm
This small-group class will be primarily for high school athletes who are interested in starting a strength-training program. The class will provide a full body weight lifting program, using functional multi-joint exercises and will emphasize learning and executing proper technique above all else. Instructed by Nick Whittaker, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Held in the weight room.
High School Strength Conditioning-Level II
Must complete Level I to participate
