Mexico City is fab! Great food, lots
of art and culture, lots of people!
Believe me, it's perfectly safe! I
walk, take public transport, live a
normal life!

Mercado de San Juan
Farmer's Market
1
The most international food market in
the city. Not too big, not too crowded
but has the freshest of everything! And
there are places to perch and eat too!
B&B
2
Opera House
Incredible building, wonderful,
affordable performances, right down
town. For amazing view of the building
go to the 6 floor cafe of Sears across the
road!

Wonderful place to stay. Generous
hosts, interesting guests, fantastic,
central neighbourhood. Truly. If they
don't have room, ask for a
recommendation.

Public Art
Saturdays only!!!!! A lovely craft market
over three squares (and one big building)
in ancient San Angel. Other shops, lots
of food & museums too. Worth it!
Colonia Condesa
6
Neighborhood
Condessa is the more genteel cousin of
Colonia Roma Norte. Quiet squares,
lovely cafes and restaurants and some
wonderful B&Bs. Joggers, dogs, baby
carriages!
Museo Jumex
7
Museum
Very cool collection of permanent
contemporary art and some wonderful
temporary exhibitions. Right next to
Soumaya so you can do both in one
morning!
Museo Frida Kahlo

Centro Histórico
Plaza

A must see for Frida fans. However, get
there early as it gets very crowded. It's
in my neighbourhood of coyoacan so
come for the day!
My neighbourhood! Old, colonial streets
and squares, a lovely covered market, a
cathedral! It's a world apart from Mexico
City (even though it's in the city!)

The floating gardens of Xochimilco are
one of the wonders of the world. Go to
one of the "embarcaderos" & hire a boat
for 2-3 hours. Float, eat, look, relax.
Bosque de Chapultepec
Park
Overpriced food BUT a must visit to sit in
the garden and have the MOST delicious
margarita in town. Right next to Diego
Rivera's studio. So do both!
14
Chapultepec is a huge park in the city.
Go walking, see the museums. Don't
miss the Rufino Tomayo museum - great
cafe & shop. Avoid the zoo. Crowded &
sad.

Fantastic restaurant, shops, bar with
living wall (and bicycle!) and roof bar in
an old colonial mansion in the very
centre of town. Really - don't miss it.

I like the Soumaya although it has many
detractors. Go to the top floor and walk
down the spiral walk way and take in
several hundred years of art! Efficient!

Peacocks, aztec hairless dogs and art
combine in this huge house that

Roma Norte is rather bohemian. Head to
Calle Colima for neat shops, galleries, and
a wonderful bakery called La Puerta
Abierto.
