Oficina de Mobilitat Internacional d’Estudiants DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT THE ECONOMIC MEDIA REQUIRED TO RENEW THE TIE CARD FOR RELATIVES OF STUDENTS You can find in these pages the same information that appears in the point 5 (Economic media) of the instructions about how to renew a student’s TIE card, but including the modifications related to relatives of students, for every one of the 5 options that the Spanish authorities accept. RELATIVES: A copy of the economic media of the student must be included in the documents presented for every one of his/her relatives. There economic media must evidence that the student has economic means enough to maintain every one of his/her relatives plus him/herself. It is to say, a photocopy of the documents that show the economic means of the student must be included for every beneficiary. Note: In case some of the beneficiaries have economic media on their own, these won’t be considered by the Spanish authorities, only the ones from the student. However the required amount will depend on the number of persons that have to live by means of such an amount: The definition indicates: “As to the amount required to maintain the students relatives, the 75% of the IPREM will be monthly required for the first relative (399,38 euros) and the 50% of the IPREM will be monthly required for every one of the rest of the relatives (266,26 euros).” Therefore, for any of the possible options, you have to calculate the amount corresponding to the percentage (weight) of each one of the beneficiaries, and after that, sum up all the amounts. Weight, as a percentage of the IPREM Monthly individual amount Student 100% 532,51 € First relative 75% 399,38 € Second relative 50% 266,26 € Third relative 50% 266,26 € Option 1: A statement of an account of a Spanish Bank or an Spanish Savings Bank showing the deposits and withdrawals of the last 6 months with a stamp from the Entity. It must contain your name as a holder of the account and the final balance of the statement must be at least of 3.192,72 € (and the average amount of the credits you receive must be equal or greater than 532,51 €/month, the minimum professional salary “IPREM”, per month). - In this case, the Spanish authorities require that both the monthly average amount and the final balance amount must be increased: for the first relative, the monthly amount must be increased as you can see in the table above; as to the final balance, the amount of 3.192,72 euros required for the student must be increased with the 75% of that amount for the first relative and with the 50% of that amount for every one of the rest of the relatives. - Please find here below an example: a family with two children in which the student is one of the parents and the relatives are all beneficiaries of him/her: o Minimum monthly amount: 532,51 € + 399,38 € +266,26 € + 266,26 € = 1.464,41€. o Final balance amount of the statement of account: 3.192,72 € + 2.394,54 € + 1.596,36 € + 1.596,36 € = 8.786,41 €. Oficina de Mobilitat Internacional d’Estudiants Option 2: A statement of an account of a Spanish Bank or a Spanish Savings Bank and with a stamp from the Entity. This statement must show your name as the holder of the account and a minimum current credit balance of 6.385,44 €. - For OPTION 2, you have to add, to the amount of 6.385,44 € of the student, the 75% of it for the first beneficiary; and the 50% of said amount for every one of the rest of the beneficiaries. Consequently, in the previous example of the family with two children, the total amount of the final bank account balance should be a minimum of: 17.572,83 €. FOR THE REST OF OPTIONS, THE AMOUNT RECEIVED BY THE STUDENT (FROM A SCHOLARSHIP OF A FAMILIAR ASSISTANCE), OR THE AMOUNT GUARANTEED BY THE PERSON THAT COMMITS HIM/HERSELF TO MAINTAIN THE STUDENT, MUST BE INCREASED IN THE SAME WAY, ACCORDING TO THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED SCALE: “As to the amount required to maintain the students relatives, the 75% of the IPREM will be monthly required for the first relative (399,38 euros) and the 50% of the IPREM will be monthly required for every one of the rest of the relatives (266,26 euros).” Option 3: The evidence of being in possession of a scholarship, official and recognized by the European Union. It must specify the monthly amount to receive in Euros. Option 4: Scholarship or a financial assistance from your family in your country of origin. The document must be duly legalized, but the validation of the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in your country of origin or from the Consulate of your country in Spain would be accepted. It must specify the monthly amount to receive in Euros and the length period of the assistance. -Option 5: Maintenance commitment from a relative living in Spain. It can be proved by means of: An affidavit (notarial deed), or The personal appearance of the deponent (relative of the student) at this UPC International Mobility Office to sign a statement about the matter (we have an application form at this OMI) In both cases, the following documents are also required and will have to be added: - If the student’s relative is a wage-earner, his/her work contract and his/her three last payslips must be enclosed - If the student’s relative is a self-employed person, the last tax declaration and the last receipt of the payment he/she does as a self employed person must be enclosed. - Kindship evidence: by means of a document from the origin country, duly legalized or a document issued by the Consulate of their origin country in Spain, also duly legalized. The relative person that commits him/herself to maintain the student must: - Have the condition of legal resident in Spain - The student and the relative who commits to maintain him or her must be relatives within the second degree of consanguinity or affinity (it includes partnership duly registered). Note: In case that the student lives with the person that takes the responsibility to maintain him/her (a certificate of cohabitation will be required), the amount that the person that commits to maintain the student should dedicate to his/her maintenance will have to be only of the 30% of the IPREM, it is, 159,75 €.
