ORDINANCE 2017-04
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF WASHINGTON, COUNTY OF WARREN,
STATE OF NEW JERSEY AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 117
TITLED “VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC” ARTICLE V TITLED THROUGH STREETS;
STOP AND YIELD INTERSECTIONS
WHEREAS, it has come to the township Committee’s attention that the Code of the Township,
specifically Chapter 117, Vehicles and Traffic, does not provide adequate information for Through Streets and
Stop Intersections; and
WHEREAS, any Stop Intersections and Through Streets must be listed within the ordinance in order to
be enforced; and
WHEREAS, the Township Engineer’s Office has prepare a report entitled generally entitled “TOWNSHIP
STOP SIGN SURVEY AND ENGINEERING ANALYSIS”, in support of the designations of stop streets at the
intersections of Township streets; and
WHEREAS, the Township Committee wishes to provide complete, thorough information on the traffic
signage throughout the Township.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the Code of the Township of Washington shall be
amended and supplemented as follows:

Severability. The various parts, sections and clauses of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. If
any part, sentence, paragraph, section or clause is adjudged unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent
jurisdiction, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
Repealer. Any ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed
as to their inconsistencies only.
Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication as provided by law.
NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the foregoing Ordinance was introduced to pass on the first
reading meeting of the Township Committee of the Township of Washington held on February 21, 2017, and
ordered published in accordance with the law. Said Ordinance will be considered for final reading and adoption
at a regular meeting of the Township Committee to be held on March 21, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. or as soon
thereafter as the Township Committee may hear this Ordinance at the Municipal Building, Washington
Township, 211 Route 31 North, Washington, New Jersey at which time all persons interested may appear for or
against the passage of said Ordinance.
