Dear Parents of the Best 2nd Grade Students,
We have our iPads!! The kids really enjoyed using them for our
instruction last week. During Johnny Can Spell, we used an app called
Phonogram Sounds during dictation to check our answers. For Math, we
used Nearpod to generate and answer math word problems and receive
immediate feedback. For language arts, they used QR Code Reader to
check their answers after forming contractions. For writing, the
students “published” their final copies of personal narratives by
recording their stories on the Sock Puppets app. They were so funny!
Finally, one of the favorite lessons this week was a combination of using
QR Code Reader to go to a website about George Washington and then
presenting their findings using Tellagami. Then, they emailed their
“gami” to me to “turn it in.” They were amazing! I am so proud of the
kids for transitioning so well to our new way of life here at school! (A
big THANK YOU to Emily Baker for spending an entire hour loading apps
on the iPads!!!)
As always, thank you so much for your support and help from home.
Continue working on 2- and 3-digit addition and subtraction. I will
administer the 4th Six Weeks Math Checkpoint to assess their progress.
This week, we’ll also learn how to tell time on an analog clock. Quiz them
at home! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for sharing your children with me! I love them all very much!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Bullajian
