and wildlife. Today we’ll be on the look-out
for wildflowers as this is the time of year that
wildflowers in Death Valley are most likely (note
that mother nature is at work here and the rains
during the fall and winter prior will determine
what flowers there are to see). This morning we’ll
travel to Ubehebe Crater, the largest in a series
of craters found in the area. Around 6,000 years
ago a powerful volcanic explosion created this
crater which is half a mile in diameter and more
than 500 feet deep. We’ll pass by the remains of
the road that leads to Scotty’s Castle which was
destroyed in a massive flood in late 2015 and
won’t be rebuilt until at least 2019! Returning to
the Furnace Creek area we’ll enjoy an included
lunch at The Inn at Furnace Creek. An elegant
hideaway since 1927, The Inn at Furnace Creek
is known as the “Jewel of Death Valley.” This
four-diamond resort is one of the National Park
system’s premier historic hotels. This afternoon
we’ll visit the National Park Visitor Center,
enjoy the views of Manly Beacon from Zabriskie
Point. We’ll also visit Harmony Borax Works
to learn how Borax was discovered in this area,
how 20-mule teams transported it and what
importance Borax still has to the world today. We
return to the Ranch in the late afternoon with the
balance of the day at leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch)

DAY 3 ~ DEPART DEATH VALLEY
After an included breakfast buffet, we’ll make
our way out of Death Valley and travel past the
massive sand dunes near Stovepipe Wells as we
depart via the western exit of the Park on our way
towards Southern California. Several rest stops
and a stop for lunch on your own will be made
before we arrive back at our drop-off points in
the evening. While we will have left the Valley,
its flamboyant coloring, geologic phenomena and
peaceful serenity will remain in our memories
forever. (Breakfast)
