Mrs Banyard’s Blog: The children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the
first run of Cross Country Club. Although raining earlier in the day, by
lunchtime it had stopped and so the inaugural session took
place. When they returned there were lots of rosy cheeks,
smiles and laughter and due to the good reports, more
children have signed up to take part!
Martha, ‘I really enjoyed Cross Country Club, it was really fun!’
Zach, ‘I could run fast.’
PLEASE READ: Important Safeguarding notice for parents re: Musical.ly
app
There have been several reported cases since November where children in
Warwickshire have been contacted inappropriately by adults through this
app. If your children use this app it is highly recommended that you
delete it/very closely monitor and talk with your children about safe social
networking and use of the Internet.
Can we take this opportunity to remind parents about CEOP (Child
Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) to whom concerns can be
reported: https://www.ceop.police.uk/Ceop-Report/
Parents can, of course, report immediate concerns regarding an adult
befriending a child to the Police.
Please do not hesitate to talk to a member of staff if you have any
questions about online safety.
AS mentioned in our last newsletter we are focusing on safety this half
term and PCSO Williams from the Safer Schools Team will be leading a
workshop in school about Cyber Crime and Internet Safety.
He has offered to talk to parents about this subject and we strongly
encourage you to come along and take part—further details to follow. If
you wish to attend please advise Mrs Bloom or your child’s
teacher.

The End of the School Day
The school governors have discussed staggered finish times to help with difficulties
parking at the end of the day and to enable our KS2 chidlren to have an afternoon play.
KS1 will still finish at 3.15pm. KS2 will finish at 3.30pm. If you have any comments
regarding this proposal please let us know either by writing or email
[email protected]
Thank you
Playground Security
Please may we remind you that the end of the school day is 3.15pm and if you are unable to
be here at that time, please ring to let us know. We do offer after school care which
children must be booked into in advance. They can access this in an emergency at a cost of
£1 every 15 minutes. As children remain on site after 3.15pm for clubs or after school
care, may we respectfully request that you leave the playground as soon as you have collected your children so that the gates can be locked for the safety of the other children.
Thank you.
Singing Playgrounds
Next Thursday 26 January, the children will take part in another Singing Playgrounds
workshop. There will be an after school session led by Ex Cathedra vocal coaches
for parents and carers at 3.15pm. The children are enjoying learning the songs
and it is a fun activity to do together. If parents could meet children in the
playground and come into school through the front door; younger siblings and
grandparents are welcome.

Dear Parents
Nominations are now open for the school’s next Parent Governor
Becoming a parent governor offers you the opportunity to make a real contribution to the life and
work of our school and the federation to which it belongs. School governors play a key role in the
leadership of the federation and work together with staff to make sure that each school provides a
challenging and supportive environment for its pupils.
We currently have a vacancy on the governing body for a Parent Governor for Wilmcote School
and I am now writing to invite you to put your name forward. Do not worry if you have no
experience in education matters – the Governing Body includes a range of people, all with different
skills to offer and contributions to make – and full training and support are available through
induction training, a Governor Handbook and advice and mentoring from your colleagues on the
Governing Body. The usual term of office is four years from the date of appointment. If you choose
to, you can complete your term office even if your child has since left the school.
Who is eligible?
All parents and carers of registered pupils are eligible to become parent governors and every
parent, whether or not you live with the pupil, is entitled to vote in a parent governor election.
Someone who has parental responsibility or day-to-day care of a pupil is also eligible to serve and
to vote.
How are Parent Governors nominated and elected?
If you would like to nominate someone or to put your name forward, you need to complete the
nomination form provided and submit it either to the School Office or to the Clerk to the
governors, Helen Yeomans (email [email protected]) by midday on Friday 27th
January 2017. We can provide assistance and advice in completing the form where necessary. If
more than two nominations are received, an election will be held and ballot papers for this will be
sent to all parents and carers.
On the following page, you will find a brief summary of the Governing Body’s key roles. If you
would like to find out more, please contact Helen Yeomans by email or on 01789 292112. We look
forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
