There were many types of Roman food. Things like
Libum, which is a type of roman cheesecake, and Pear
Patina, which is a type of fruit salad.
Instead of taking a bath at the
baths, people would usually come
there to eat. Like a café. Usually
people would be yelling trying to get
people to buy their food.
Much like people do today in
shopping malls or in the big cities.
Yes the baths were a place to
get clean and relax but, don’t forget
the were a place to talk and eat.
There were many famous chefs in
ancient Rome. His name was
Apicius. He lived over 2,000 years
ago. He was the originator of
Libum. He created many other
things that Romans still eat today.
The Romans often covered their food while it
was cooking with a domed earthenware
cover called testo.
They also used a churn.
They would only cook their
Food over an open fire.
