GAS TESTING COURSE OVERVIEW: The Gas Testing course is nationally accredited, providing participants with the skills and knowledge required to interpret readings and take action based on the interpretation. This course applies to all workers who may be required to carry out gas testing of an atmosphere prior to entering a specific area and workspace. Participants will gain skills and knowledge facilitated by trainers with extensive industry experience in emergency services. AWARD ISSUED: Participants who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will receive an electronic Statement of Attainment with the following units of competency: MSAPMOHS217A Gas test atmospheres COURSE CONTENT: Application of legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for gas testing atmospheres Gas testing Equipment maintenance Common chemical asphyxiates Common irritants and corrosives Common flammable gases Narcotics Exposure standards Conditions under which atmospheres become hazardous Units of measurement used to express concentration of atmospheric contaminants PRE-REQUISITES: Where a course has a pre-requisite participants must provide evidence to SDS to show they have the required pre-requisite/s. There are no pre-requisites associated with this course. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Participants are to complete a declaration, via the SDS Training Registration Form, to acknowledge understanding of and compliance with the course entry requirements listed below. Providing a false declaration to SDS may result in withdrawal of enrolment (fees may apply). COURSE STRUCTURE: The course employs a range of learning techniques including classroom training and simulations. Classes are limited in size and facilitated to allow participants to learn and develop skills in a comfortable environment.
