Sunday School (Teachers) Calendar September through May of 2015-16 All Sunday School Children TEACHERS: WATCH THE DATES/LESSON NUMBERS AND FALL OR WINTER BOOKS CAREFULLY, IT ISN’T ALWAYS IN EXACT ORDER. September 13: Fall Lesson 1: Adam and Eve. All the kids will go straight to their classrooms this morning. Take extra time to get to know everyone. *Teachers be sure to come up for the beginning of worship; it is the Teachers Blessing this morning. September 20: Fall Lesson 2: The First Sin. We will have a Skit performed by our Drama Ministry, so we will all begin in the Family Room together. After the skit the kids will go to their classrooms. September 27: Fall Lesson 3: Joseph and his brothers. Kids will go to the Family room first and I will spend a little time with them talking about where our offering is going this year. October 4: Fall Lesson 4: Joseph helps his brothers. Music with Miss Beth and Miss Solveig will begin today. We will start in the Family room for about 10 minutes of singing. We will sing first thing most Sunday’s. Teachers please join your kiddos. Music today will be followed by a skit by our Drama Ministry. October 11: Fall Lesson 5: Baby Moses October 18: No classes this morning- MEA break October 25: Fall Lesson 6: The Burning Bush. We will have a skit this morning. The kids will sing up in worship this morning before Sunday school begins. November 1: Fall Lesson 7: Manna, Quail and Water. November 8: Fall Lesson 9: God calls Samuel. We will have a skit today. November 15: Fall Lesson 8: Deborah November 22: Winter Lesson 1: Child called Immanuel. (Note we are changing teaching books) All the kids will sing in worship this morning before the Children’s Message November 29: No lessons today- Thanksgiving holiday December 6: Winter Lesson 2: Angel Visit. This is also our dress rehearsal Sunday for the Christmas Program. We will all start in the Family Room; have the younger ones go through their songs and then they will be dismissed to their classrooms. I will keep the 2nd graders and any 1st graders who are “actors” in the program to go through the whole thing. These kids will not have a lesson, but all the others (non-actors) will. December 13: Sunday school Christmas program during worship. There will be no regular classes this morning, all kids will be with their parents or program leaders for the worship service that they normally attend. December 20: Christmas stations in the Family room. We will use Winter Lesson 3: Jesus is Born along with the other activities. I will need at least 3 teachers at each service to run the stations. December 27: No classes for Christmas break January 3: I will need at least 2 teachers from each service, but we will just watch a Christmas themed movie for Sunday school. Didn’t want to not have anything for those families who are in worship after Christmas, but yet it seemed early to jump back in. *For the 4 remaining weeks in January we will be doing “JTerm” and each age will do a different piece of the “I am Lutheran” curriculum. *Classes will meet at 9:15 and 10:45 on January 10, 17, 24 and 31. Teacher materials for the month of January will be out for you by December 13. Below is listed what each age will be doing. 2’s, 3’s and Pre-K class: “How does God want us to live?” Kindergarten: “My Book About Jesus”. 1st. Grade: “The Lord’s Prayer” 2nd. Grade: “Meet Martin Luther” February 7: Winter Lesson 4: Wise Men. We will have a skit this morning. February 14: Winter Lesson 5: Jesus’ Baptism February 21: Winter Lesson 6: Disciples February 28: Winter Lesson 7: Lord’s Prayer March 6: This is the All Church Musical performance weekend. Many of our families/children/teachers are involved, so therefore I will take the kids who are here and show a movie. If a teacher or two from each service, that are not involved in the musical, could help out, that would be appreciated. There will be no regular lessons today. March 13: Winter Lesson 8: Woman at the Well. March 20: Easter stations in the Family room. I will need at least 3 teachers from each service to run the stations. This is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. March 27: Easter Sunday- no Sunday school classes April 3: Winter Lesson 10: Centurion’s Servant. April 10: Winter Lesson 11: Jesus Blesses the Children April 17: Winter Lesson 9: A Storm. Note the movement in lessons. We will have a skit this morning. April 24: Winter Lesson 12: Jesus Heals 2 Blind Men. Again, note the jumping in lessons. This was so I could get the right skit on the right day. May 1: Fall Lesson 14: Daniel and the Lion’s Den. Jumping back to fall to end with a fun lesson. We will have a skit and then a Veggie Tales movie on Daniel. This is our last week, so again, please be sure to be up in worship at the beginning so that the congregation can thank you. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR TEACHING THIS YEAR. It my most sincere hope that you received more from your students than they received from each of you over these past months. Each of you is a very special gift to Family of Christ and to every Sunday school student here.
