CLASS ASSIGNMENTS THIRD QUARTER
January 6- Go over grades for the first semester. Give out literature textbooks. Go over content
of the literature course.
January 7- Notes on the Anglo-Saxon Period. A review of the historical period that is the setting
for Beowulf. A review of Old English. Anglo-Saxon Period Beowulf
January 8- Notes on the epic poem Beowulf. The notes serve as an introduction of the poem.

January 9- Analogy Text XII. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary
January 12- Review the notes given the first of the week. Listen of part one of Beowulf,
"Grendel Attacks the Danes." Discuss that section of the poem.
January 13- Listen to and discuss "The Coming of Beowulf," "The Battle with Grendel," and
"The Battle with Grendel's Mother."
January 14- Listen to and discuss "The Battle with the Dragon" and "The Funeral Fire." Review
for test.
January 15- Test on the poem Beowulf. Test will be a short answer format, and students will
write in answers in complete sentences.
January 16- Analogy Test XIII. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary Finish the
discussion of the epic poem Beowulf and review for a test.
January 19- No School
January 20- Go over test on Beowulf. Students will have their grades written in their
planners. Begin a discussion of the Medieval Period which ran from 1066 to 1485.
January 21- Finish a discussion of the Medieval Period and begin a discussion of the life and
works of Geoffrey Chaucer.
January 22- Begin going over the characters in Chaucer's Prologue to The Canterbury Tales. A
discussion of each character that makes the trip to Canterbury. Geoffrey Chaucer and The

January 23- Continue to discuss the characters in the Chaucer's Prologue.
January 26- Finish listening to and begin discussion of The Pardoner's Tale. the-pardoners-tale
January 27- Listen to Chaucer's The Pardoner's Tale.
January 28- Review the material discussed in this unit for a test.
January 29 - Test on Geoffrey Chaucer, his Prologue, The Pardoner's Tale, and the Medieval
Period.
January 30- Analogy Test XIV. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary on the test
February 2- Go over tests from the previous week. Grades will be written in students' planners.
February 3 - Introduction to the drama Everyman. Background information on the drama. Begin
listening to the play. Everyman Introduction everytext
February 4 - Finishing listening to the play Everyman. Begin discussion of the work.
February 5- Finish discussion of Everyman. Introduction to Sir Gawain and the Green
Knight. Background information on the poem. King Arthur gawain
February 6- Listen to the epic poem Sir Gawian and the Green Knight.
February 9- Discussion of the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
February 10- Background information on the story "Le Morte d'Arthur. Listen to the story "Le

February 13- Analogy Test XV. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary on the test.
February 16- No School
February 17- Review the material covered in this unit for a test.
February 18- Test on the following: Everyman, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, "Le Morte d'
Arthur, and "Bonny Barbara Allan."
February 19- Review the test from the previous day. Grades will be written in students' planners.
Begin looking at William Shakespeare and his play Macbeth.
February 20- Introduction to William Shakespeare and the drama Macbeth. Background
