SCRAP REDUCTION #2 With the 9 degree wedge ruler Use all the left over strips sitting on your shelves to make these wonderful pieced circles. You can use strips in all lengths and widths for this easy to piece quilt. These are BIG blocks. Make 1 block for a wall hanging or 9 blocks for a large quilt. Scrap borders can also be added . I have listed the yardage requirements and supply list for a single block wall hanging and a four block quilt as shown above. During class students will work on 1 block. SINGLE BLOCK 28” x 32” 4 FQ for background Lots of scraps ( approx 2 yards of scraps) 2/3 yard for bias 1 yard backing 1/3 yard for binding or use leftover strips for binding FOUR BLOCK 56” x 64” 16 FQ for background Lots of Scraps ( approx 3 1/2 yards of scraps) 1 yard for bias 3 1/2 yards backing 5/8 yard for binding or use leftover strips for binding OTHER SUPPLIES NEEDED: Sewing machine in good working order Neutral thread for sewing Thread to match bias fabric selection 9° Wedge Ruler Rotary cutter, mat and 6” x 24” ruler Please cut your scraps into a variety of different widths ( 1 1/2” to 3”) Your strips do not have to be 42” long. They can be a variety of different lengths and widths. Your scraps can be a single color family or multi colors.
