Providing Dignity In Life for Our Elders
SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2014
Our Residents Color the World with Love & Exceptional Talent!
Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist
once we grow up.”
The residents at
Brookestone Village have shown us how it’s
done!
Life Enrichment has been incorporating art into
many activities. One of the ways is with Music
on Canvas. Residents listen to music and paint
where the music takes them. It is a very relaxing and positive experience.
Residents have also been trying to duplicate the
works of Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet.
The results have been both inspiring and beautiful.
Artwork is hanging on display in the window of
the Life Enrichment office. Please come down
and check it out next time you are here!

We Accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!
Brookestone Village got in on the recent social media craze to benefit ALS. Here are some snapshots!!
Pictured left is the BSV Leadership Team; in the middle is Stephanie Anderson (CNA), Marie Fadanou (CNA), Miriam Roza, Sarah
Bird, & Lynn Paup from Life Enrichment; right picture is Erin Mumm, RN with Diana & Dwight Rickard.
And the Beat Goes On
Drum therapy is an ancient approach that uses
rhythm to promote healing and self-expression, so
we decided to make our own BSV Drum Circle.
We don’t know if we made a lot of beautiful music, but we sure did have a good time trying.
Chanting (and a few impromptu songs) could even
be heard to the timing of the beat!
Pictured top from left to right
are Mary Rossbach, Marge
Schram, and Doddie
McCallum beating the drums!
Pictured Above are Mary Rossbach and
Marge Schram. Middle picture is Don
Erlbacher and Ed “Ted” Phelps in deep
concentration! Bottom right is Jean Herbison and Evelyn Fink.

Red Hat Radiance
The ladies are starting a tradition...meeting monthly
for a luncheon prepared for them by our Chef, Craig
Pospisil. They are encouraged to show up in their
“finery” of feather boas, scarves, beaded necklaces,
and of course a RED HAT!!
From left is Ida Constantino, Anne Zimmerman, Miriam Roza,
Doddie McCallum, Marge Schram, & Rita Giordano posing for
the camera!
Marge Schram is all smiles!
Willa Heib, Mary Ann Maxey, Alice Gooder, and Rosalie
Leise enjoying the wonderful sandwiches!
The lunch is a time for food, fun, and fellowship.
The emphasis must be on the fun, when the most
common sound you hear during the meal is laughter!
Edna Brink & Life Enrichment Asst. Ashley Consbruck
Ida Constantino showed up in her fancy hat and shirt to
partake in the festivities.

decided to move the exercising outdoors!

Heib are making homemade vanilla ice cream
in a plastic baggie. The results were rich,
creamy, and mouthwatering!
Edna Brink was sampling the
strawberry ice cream that they
made in the ice cream machine!
Many said it was the most delicious ice cream they had EVER
had! High Praise!!

Everything Is Awesome...at Brookestone Village!
Brookestone Village participated in this year’s
Millard Days Parade on August 23rd. The
weather was sunny and hot which was perfect
for the Ice Pops that we handed out!
Our float theme was from the recent Lego
Movie, “Everything is Awesome!” We had a
Lego nurse and resident jamming to the lively
music and waving to the crowd.
We came away with FIRST place in the float
division of the parade to make it a truly AWESOME day!
