What is AWANA all about?
Who is AWANA?
AWANA helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children who faithfully follow Jesus
Christ! AWANA offers a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.
What We Believe About Raising Your Kids Spiritually
AWANA’s approach to children’s ministry emphasizes the roles parents and churches play in growing Christ-following
kids.
What goes on in an AWANA meeting?
That depends on which AWANA program your child attends: Puggles (2&3 year olds), Cubbies (Pre-school / 4&5s),
Sparks (K-2nd grade), or Truth & Training (3rd-6th grade).
In Puggles (ages 2 & 3), children are welcomed each week with play time, songs, snacks,
and simple crafts and activities. Lessons teach and reinforce four basic biblical precepts:
• God Made Everything
• God Saw That It Was Good
• God is Love
• Give Thanks
(Your child is considered a Puggle if they are 2 or 3 years old during the 2016-17 school year).
**Notes for Parents: There will be a few children under the age of 2 whose parents/guardians are leaders in our Awana program that will be
in our Puggles group this year, this is the only exception for anyone under the age of 2 in Puggles; and we do not offer a nursery during
Awana. Also, your Puggle should be potty-trained; please send an extra set of clothes for emergencies. Thank you for helping our Leaders!
Cubbies (pre-school or ages 4 & 5) celebrates pre-schoolers’ spiritual potential
by helping them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.
Our pre-school program meets spiritual needs through lots of fun, games, puppets, crafts, snacks, awards and other
activities making Cubbies a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand.
(Your child is considered a Cubbie if they are 4 or 5 years old during the 2016-17 school year, and not in Kindergarten.)
Sparks (K-2nd grade) teaches children about the people and events of the
Bible. This knowledge builds a foundation of wisdom for knowing Jesus.
Sparks meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of
irresistible excitement. Club meetings are divided into three segments:
1st: Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons; 2nd: Games that appeal to kids of all skill
levels; and, 3rd: Bible teaching, singing, announcements, and awards.
(Your child is in Sparks if they are in Kindergarten – 2nd grade during the 2016-17 school year.)
Truth & Training (3rd-6th grade): answers kids’ key questions about God and the Bible,
guiding them to grow in His grace.
Like Sparks, T&T weekly meetings are divided into three segments. 1st: Children have
team-oriented fun in Game Time; 2nd: They hear a Bible message in Large Group Time;
and, 3rd: Learn and recite Bible truths in Handbook Time, and receive awards.
(Your child is in Truth & Training if they are in 3rd – 6th grade during the 2016-17 school year.)
Exciting theme nights, AWANA Store, Global Outreach Missions, Operation Christmas Child
Shoeboxes, and other fun activities enhance all clubber’s meetings throughout the year!

CLUB DUES:
Club Dues are .50 cents each week OR a one-time payment of $15.00 for the entire AWANA year (Sept-May).
Club Dues are important in helping us purchase items for the AWANA Store throughout the entire year.
Club Dues are exclusively used to purchase AWANA Store items.
Uniforms and handbooks may be purchased when clubbers have completed their entrance booklets.
You can pay up front for these items, however, they will not receive them until completion of entrance booklets
(ie: Flight 3:16; Start Zone, etc.). Upon receiving the uniforms, clubbers should wear them to every regular
AWANA meeting and bring their handbooks to club each week. In the handbook, there are sections that
must be passed by clubbers in each club meeting – please work with your clubber at home prior to club.
RULES for kids during club night:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Clubbers arrive between 5:45-6:00 p.m. to check-in. Opening Ceremony is at 6:00 p.m. sharp!
You must behave properly at all times and obey your AWANA Leaders…just like in school.
You must participate in all activities of the club night unless you are excused by your Club Director.
When you hear any leader counting from 1 to 5, you must get very quiet immediately and listen
for instructions.
Cell phones, I-Pods, I-Pads, Toys, Candy, Gum, and other personal items should be left at home.
IMPORTANT: Any child who chooses to break any rule three times during a club night will not be allowed to
participate in the remainder of that night’s activities. If necessary, we will ask your parents to take you home. In
some cases, children who receive three counts will be asked to stay home the following week as well. These rules
are not meant to be restrictive, but to ensure a safe and fun atmosphere where everyone has a sense of security.
