Apthorp Gallery 10th Birthday Exhibition Proposal
artsdepot will be celebrating its 10th birthday this autumn and we’re looking for an
exhibition or installation to reflect this. We welcome proposals from different visual
arts mediums, individuals or a collective with a demonstrable track record. The
exhibition will take place during October half term so the content will need to be
suitable for all ages. As it is a celebratory season we are looking for something that
has a participatory element.
What artsdepot will provide.
A Gallery space – Gallery floorplan pdf is available for download
Support to help install and take down the exhibition.
A feature in our season brochure and website to publicise the event.
What the artist(s) will provide.
A vision of how your idea will work in our gallery.
Ability to install and take down in a day.
Provide all materials / artworks to realise the vision outlined.
If presenting the idea for an exhibition, provide all artworks for display.
Copy and image for brochure and website.
Transportation to and from the venue.
Support for the curation, install and get out.
Applications should include:
1) A description and any visuals/drawings or how you imagine the idea in our
gallery
2) CV
3) Artist statement (maximum 500 words)
4) Proposed approach to the commission, no more than 1 side of A4.
5) Draft costing within specified budget, covering fee, materials costs and
installation of works.
6) Images of previous works
7) The combined size of emailed attachments must be NO MORE THAN 5MB;
larger files may be submitted on CD
Location
The exhibition will be presented in the Apthorp Gallery in artsdepot.
Budget
The total budget for the commission including all fees, materials and transportation
to and from the site is £1500. Artists shall submit a budget which is no more than this
amount including a breakdown of all fees, materials and transport.
Project Overview
Phase 1: Submissions due no later than 9am on Monday 19 May 2014.
Phase 2: Interviews Thursday 29 May 2014.
Phase 3: Final artist/s chosen and unsuccessful shortlisted applicants informed.
Phase 4: Copy and images to artsdepot by 4 June 2014.
Phase 5: Exhibition at artsdepot, October 2014.
Installation and Exhibitions dates
Installation:
Saturday 25 October
Exhibition:
Sunday 26 October – Saturday 1 November
Take Down:
Evening of Sunday 2 November
Contract
The selected artists will be required to enter into a contract with artsdepot that
stipulates the project components, work and payment schedules and responsibilities
of both parties.
Reproduction Rights
If selected for the exhibition, the artist agrees to the reproduction of images (at no
fee) in association with the exhibition (including publicity, press and website).

All submissions need to arrive no later than 9am on Monday 19 May 2014. No late
submissions will be accepted. If you have not heard from artsdepot by 29 May 2014,
then unfortunately you have not been shortlisted. We are unable to reply to
unsuccessful applications.
