Rooted in Rochester... Blooming in South Sudan

Water for South Sudan delivers direct, transformative and sustainable quality-
“Rooted in Rochester...
Blooming in South Sudan”
of-life service to the people of South Sudan by efficiently providing access to
clean, safe water and improving hygiene and sanitation practices in areas of
great need. Our commitment to help develop the new country of South Sudan
includes a commitment to empowering local people and involving them as much
as possible in every step of the process, from planning through implementation.
WFSS is also committed to the inclusion of all people in its work and to make
clean water and improved hygiene accessible to all.
Water for Sudan was established in 2003 as a not-for-profit corporation under
section 501(c) 3 of the IRS code. In 2005, Water for Sudan installed its first wells
in Southern Sudan. In 2011, when South Sudan gained independence, Water for
Sudan changed its name to Water for South Sudan. WFSS is headquartered in
Rochester, New York.
Since drilling its first well in 2005, WFSS has drilled 282 wells in remote, rural
villages in South Sudan. WFSS is 100 percent privately funded, receiving
no grants or funding from either the United States or South Sudanese
governments. WFSS has donors in all 50 states and in 33 other countries.

Event Sponsorship Opportunities
Summer 2016
Hello friends!
Join Water for South Sudan (WFSS) Founder Salva Dut on Sunday, November 13th
at 12:00 p.m. in celebrating the success of the Watering the Seeds of Change Capital
Campaign. Water for South Sudan is rooted here in Rochester, and is watering the
seeds of change in South Sudan, bringing life sustaining fresh water to the people of
the world’s newest nation.
Rooted in Rochester…Blooming in South Sudan will be a celebratory brunch at
ArtisanWorks. The event will feature a delicious buffet, a live auction highlighting
special pieces by Rochester artists and items handcrafted by African artisans, as
well as the presentation of our inaugural Founder’s Award. Salva will visit each table
to personally offer his deep gratitude for your support of WFSS.
The goal of our Watering the Seeds of Change Capital Campaign is to raise
$1,500,000 to:
• Replace outdated drilling and support equipment, allowing WFSS to
become more efficient in operations.
• Bolster critical staff in both South Sudan and the United States,
strengthening operations in both locations.
WFSS has raised close to $900,000 and we are working hard to wrap up the
campaign by the end of this year. You can help us to reach our goal – all proceeds
from this event will support the Watering the Seeds of Change Capital Campaign.
There are many ways that you can participate, from being a sponsor to bringing
guests to helping to spread the word. The list of sponsorship opportunities follows.
We hope that you will partner with us in whatever way you can to make this
inaugural WFSS fundraising event a joyful celebration and a great success.
Hoping to see you in November,
Laura Hayden
