WELCOME TO THE 2017 SEASON
It’s time. Players, dust off your boots and get down to
training, it’s started!! Supporters, get out your caps and
beer holders!! Terrigal Rugby 2017 is upon us!!
Our Season Launch is at Breakers Country Club on
Friday 10 March 2017 which will be a great chance for
everyone to catch up. You’ve got to love the rugby
season!
There has already been lots of work going on and off the
field which has included strong player numbers at preseason training which will give the Trojans the best
chance possible of another great year.
Already there is lots to tell you about for our 2017 season.
Our first match will be at The Haven on Saturday 1 April
against Warnervale. Warnervale proved to be one of our
toughest opponents in the second round of last year’s
season so expect a really tough hit out in our first match of
the year.
Our coaches headed by Chester Scott, Murray Cox and
Craig McWilliam have been putting our players through
skills training, fitness drills with strength and conditioning
in the off season. Expect our Terrigal side to be ready for
any challenge for the season in front of us.

THE ATKINS FAMILY
Congratulations to great Trojans and brothers, Todd &
Ryan Atkins who raised more than $5000 for the
Movember organisation. They accepted the challenge set
by their father, Agro, to raise a goal of $5000 with the
additional promise of their father shaving his moustache
for the first time in 40 years. This achieved, the boys
H:\Janine\JOHN STEVENS\Trojans\2017 Season\newsletters\newsletter 16-2-17.docx
shaved the mo off their father who was happy to stay that
way after receiving many compliments of how much
younger he looks. He has, however, recently toyed with
the idea of growing it back because he feels naked and
sometimes lost without it!
The money raised goes towards a range of men's health
issues most importantly towards mental health which is
very close to their hearts. Ryan has suffered from
ongoing depression for the last 10 years and is more than
happy to speak about it in order to raise awareness and
show other men it's not a sign of weakness and the
importance of talking about it.
Great work guys, you're a great Trojan family!

LIFE MEMBER - BILL STENNER
One of our Life Members and Club
stalwart, Bill Stenner, is currently
in Hunter Hospital fighting back
and will be recuperating for a
number of months. Bill has been a
major sponsor and supporter of
our Club for many years which
contributed to his nomination and
election as a Life Member in 2016.
Our Trojan thoughts are with Bill for a speedy recovery so
he can join us on the sideline this year for a few matches.
BANNERS FOR TROJANS
Get ready to see the Trojan banners flying proudly in the
Terrigal area. The banners are a big part of support and
awareness for our Club in our community. If you know a
place where our banners can sit proudly for 3-4 months,
let us know!
H:\Janine\JOHN STEVENS\Trojans\2017 Season\newsletters\newsletter 16-2-17.docx
DEFIBRILLATOR FOR TROJANS
Our Club has been successful with a grant to place a
defibrillator at The Haven for our Trojans. Training will be
available for all interested parties for use of the
defibrillator. Ring Caz on 0408 845 569 or Julie on 0431
913 751 for further details.
There are also video instructions available for any team
interested.
TROJANS PLAYING IN 7'S TOURNAMENT
Last Saturday the Trojans participated in the Mick Whale
Curry Memorial 7s Tournament run by Hamilton Rugby
Club. The Trojans put in a great performance in 40
degree plus temperatures to make us proud.
The Trojans this year are making a big effort to be
involved in a number of 7s tournaments as part of our preseason preparation.

REFEREES GET OUR SUPPORT
Our Club very strongly believes we should support the
future of referees on the Central Coast through the
Referees Programme. If anyone is interested in
completing the Referees Course the Club will pay your
fees. Both Elliot Foy and Hugh Naven have already
taken up the opportunity to complete the Referee Course.

CLUB AND OVAL UPGRADES
The Clubhouse Committee headed by Peter Wilson will be
completing two much needed projects on our oval and
painting inside the Clubhouse in 2017.
The first is the drainage to the south western corner
towards the Skillion. This will link all drainage along our
entire sidelines. A 50/50 grant was approved for this work
by Gosford Council with the Trojans installing
the drainage.
Through another Grant announced by Member for
Terrigal, Adam Crouch, the Trojans are able to start the
next stage of sandstone seating at our oval. Both jobs will
be completed at the same time so expect some additional
sandstone seating at our home matches. Thank you to
Adam Crouch for your support.
Painting internally of our Club will also start which will
freshen our Club up for the new season. Thank you to Bill
and Als for your Trojan Club contribution in completing this
painting.
