SENIORS *Important Information Regarding Senior Activities* The following packet contains information regarding River Festival 2011, Senior Week activities, and Commencement Exercises. The packet provides details regarding event times, ticket sales, and locations. Please keep this packet for future reference. The events listed here are the only Marist College sanctioned events. Please be aware that tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, to graduating Marist College undergraduate students only. All seniors must be cleared to walk at graduation in order to participate in senior week activities. All seniors must have a valid Marist I.D. card to enter any Class of 2011 event. Everyone must realize any display of inappropriate behavior at any of these events may result in being removed from or denied entrance to the events. The Senior Class Gift is the first gift that the graduating senior makes to the Marist Fund. The Marist Fund is an annual campaign that raises unrestricted funds for the College. These funds help to support financial aid, library acquisitions, campus activities, and student services. The Senior Class Gift Challenge allows seniors to be a part of a long tradition of giving back to Marist College. The challenge? To purchase your ticket you must be 21 years of age or older as of April 29th, 2011 and need a valid Marist I.D. card and proof of age (i.e. drivers license, etc.) The ticket entitles participants to four beverage tickets, food, music, fireworks, and after party munchies. A cash bar will be available. Completely fill out the attached form, including your name and your guest’s name. Marist students MUST include their campus wide ID. Bring completed form and correct amount of money with you to ticket sales. Indicate all NON-MARIST guests for formal. Checks are payable to Marist College and will be checked against the Business Office NSF list. Checks returned for insufficient funds may result in the loss of Senior Week tickets. DO NOT DRINK and DRIVE. 3 Tuesday, May 17th: WHO’S WHO CEREMONY, CABARET, 1:00 PM The Office of Student Affairs will be hosting and inviting the Who’s Who recipients from the Class of 2011. The recipients will be receiving invitations to the ceremony. Congratulations to this year’s honorees. Tuesday, May 17th: HUDSON RIVER CRUISE, WARYAS PARK, 4:00 PM or 6:30 PM Come sail away and enjoy a relaxing evening cruise on the Hudson with your fellow classmates. This year there will be two cruise times to ensure that more seniors are able to participate. The first cruise is 4:00 p.m. followed by a second cruise at 6:30 p.m. Buses leave from the Dyson parking lot at 3:15 PM for the first cruise and 5:45 PM for the second cruise. The Rip Van Winkle tour boat leaves from the Waryas Park dock, City of Poughkeepsie. The cruise includes food, beverage, DJ and dance. Tickets cost $45.00 per person. 2 forms of proof are required. Wednesday, May 18th: TASTE AROUND THE WORLD, Longview Park River Front Property, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM. The social will feature beers and wines from around the world with great food and DJ music. The cost is $15. Three complimentary drink tickets will be included and a cash bar will be available. 2 forms of proof are required. Thursday, May 19th , at 7:30 P.M. SENIOR FORMAL RECEPTION Dress to IMPRESS! The ticket to the Senior Formal includes coach bus transportation to and from The Grandview, Poughkeepsie, 1½ hours of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, multiple stationed social buffet, desserts, music, and plenty of dancing. Cash bar will be available after the meal is served. Due to the close proximity of The Grandview, we are requesting all seniors take advantage of the coach buses and do not drive cars to the Grandview. We need ample space for the buses to shuttle a large group of students. Tickets are $70.00 per person. Tuxedo coupons are available at ticket sales, first come, first served. On the night of the formal: Departure will begin at 6:45 pm at the North Entrance of Dyson. Tickets must be presented in order to board the bus and to gain entry into The Grandview. The evening of the Senior Formal everyone must bring TWO FORMS OF I.D. as employees and security at The Grandview will check participants for proof of age. No alcohol or drugs can be brought into the event or on the buses. Any inappropriate behavior will result in your immediate removal from the event. ***All tickets MUST be purchased in advance. ***Tickets will not be available at the door for the River Cruise, or The Senior Formal. 4 SIXTY FIFTH COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES Graduation Rehearsal, Friday, May 20th, 2011, 11:30 A.M. Rehearsal will begin by lining up at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel then will proceed to the campus green. Graduates will receive their cap and gown following the rehearsal. Baccalaureate Ceremony, Friday, May 20th, 2011, 4:00 P.M. The College sponsors a Baccalaureate Awards program to recognize the special achievement of graduating students in academic and community affairs. Award recipients will be notified at least one week prior to the ceremony. The ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. in Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel. Commencement Day, Saturday, May 21st, 2011 Line up for graduates will begin at 9:15 A.M. at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Chapel. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 A.M. on the campus green. It is followed by the President’s Reception on the Champagnat Green. For additional information refer to your 2011 Commencement booklet or http://www.marist.edu/registrar/commencement/.
