At pumunta sila.
Pagninilay:
Amen.
San Juan Bautista De La Salle … Ipanalangin mo kami!
Hesus, manatili ka sa aming mga puso … Magpakailanman!

Are you a junk-food junkie? Here's what you need to know.
It's the 21st century and "junk food" has gone global. For better or for worse (mostly worse), junk food is now available all over
the world. We see it most everywhere we go -- in grocery and convenience stores, fast-food restaurants, on television -- usually
looking very appealing. But just what are the facts about junk food?
2
"Junk food" generally refers to foods that contribute lots of calories but little nutritional value. Of course, what's considered
"junk food" depends on whom you ask. Some might say pizza is junk food, for example. But I personally don't think so, since it
contributes real food with nutrients, like cheese and tomato sauce. Add whole-wheat or part whole-wheat crust, plus veggies as
a topping, and I'd say pizza completely exits the junk food category

From the Christian Living Department
Living the Lasallian Spirit (Br. Mike Valenzuela FSC)
The prayer, “I will continue O my God to do all my actions for the love of you” ought to be understood as a way of sharing in the
mind and heart of Christ whose whole life is a loving gift to the Father.
Suggestions for LOVING GOD through our ACTIONS
1. Be aware that God wants to use you to touch other people’s lives with his love. Take time to share God’s love
with others through the ‘language’ of words, actions and relationships.
1. We would like to thank all the classes for your attendance in the Holy Mass. Let us continue to meet God in this highest
form of public prayer. Here is the schedule of class Mass sponsors:

From the JHS MAPEH Department
1. Our school’s Intramurals for the students in the Junior High School is scheduled on September 7 – 11 for Grade 7
and Grade 10 and on September 14 to 18 for Grade 8 and Grade 9. This year’s theme is “DLSL: Building a
Culture of Peace through Sports and Cultural Activities”.
2. The MAPEH department does not require the students to have uniform jersey in the Intramurals that is
why we are not providing guidelines regarding uniform. If the class opted to have Intramurals jersey, preparations
should be made per class in coordination with your respective homeroom advisers.
3. The submission of the name of the class representative for the Vocal Solo Singing Contest is extended until tomorrow
(August 20). Regarding this, Grade 7 to 10 participants for the Vocal Solo Singing Contest will have a meeting with Ms.
Imee and Ms. Les on Monday (August 24), homeroom period at the BHV Gym.
4. All Grade 8 and Grade 9 classes are reminded to submit to Ms. Les Pernez at LSF21, the title of the song that you will
use for the SAYAWIT and Broadway Musicale contests respectively.
5. All students are reminded to submit to your MAPEH teachers until today (August 19), the reply slips for the letter sent
to your parents last Friday (August 14).
6. Monitored preparations and practices for the Intramurals activities and contests by the MAPEH teachers will be done
during MAPEH classes only. If the classes, in coordination with their homeroom advisers, opted to practice beyond
class hours, the following provisions shall be observed:
• Up to 5pm (curfew time) – There is no need of parents’ waiver. Just inform the students ahead of
time so that they can also inform their parents.
• Up to 6pm only (no more extension) – There is a need of parents’ waiver.
• In both cases, adviser’s presence is expected.
Practices during weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and during no class days are not allowed.
7. Students who will use the classroom during break time and beyond class hours for practices should secure a pass from
the Grade Moderator. Getting of the pass should be done prior to the practice time and not while you are already using
the classroom.
8. For the sequence of the presentation for the Modern Dance, SAYAWIT, Broadway Musicale and Modern Ballroom
Dance contests, please refer to the bulletin entry yesterday (August 17).
For Grade 9 Classes and Advisers
9. The submission of the financial plan to your respective MAPEH teachers is extended until Monday (August 24) because
most of the classes are still discussing about it. However, classes who have finished the financial plan can now submit it
to your MAPEH teachers. The financial plan should be discussed in class, prepared by the class president and noted by
the homeroom adviser. Refer to the sample given to the homeroom advisers last Thursday (August 13) for the format of
the financial plan.
10. In the preparation of the props for the Broadway Musicale Contest, please refer to the following:
• The size of the cork wall in the BHV Gym stage is 7 ½ meter (width) x 2 ½ meter (height)
• The size of the loose board that the MAPEH department will provide is 2.25 meter (width) and 1.95 meter
(height).
11. Please inform Ms. Imee immediately if you want to avail of the used tarpaulin in making your props for the Broadway
Musicale contest.

FROM THE OVCAD – INSTITUTIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
Asthma Symptoms
The most common symptom is wheezing. This is a scratchy or whistling sound when you breathe. Other symptoms include:
• Shortness of breath
• Chest tightness or pain
• Chronic coughing
• Trouble sleeping due to coughing or wheezing
Asthma symptoms, also called asthma flare-ups or asthma attacks, are often caused by allergies and exposure to allergens such as
pet dander, dust mites, pollen or mold. Non-allergic triggers include smoke, pollution or cold air or changes in weather.
Asthma symptoms may be worse during exercise, when you have a cold or during times of high stress.
Children with asthma may show the same symptoms as adults with asthma: coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. In some
children chronic cough may be the only symptom.
If your child has one or more of these common symptoms, make an appointment with an allergist / immunologist:
• Coughing that is constant or that is made worse by viral infections, happens while your child is asleep, or is triggered by
exercise and cold air
• Wheezing or whistling sound when your child exhales
• Shortness of breath or rapid breathing, which may be associated with exercise
• Chest tightness (a young child may say that his chest “hurts” or “feels funny”)
• Fatigue (your child may slow down or stop playing)
• Problems feeding or grunting during feeding (infants)
• Avoiding sports or social activities
• Problems sleeping due to coughing or difficulty breathing
