The name is brand new, but the
mission is the same!

The children welcomed us on our first visit,
August 2014!
Doug and I will continue our involvement
with Haiti, hand-in-hand with Pastor Gilbert
Dr. Legette Jules, M.D. and in collaboration
with TLC Haiti.
Our mission is to identify
and partner with Christcentered, servant leaders in
Haiti who are loving,
teaching, training and
empowering the next
generation for the
rebuilding of a nation.
These trusted men and
women are leading
orphanages, churches,
schools and other practical programs
advancing the holistic development of people
and communities.
The Orphanage: Maison d’Accueil
Madame Dorcelis,
director and
founder of Maison
d’Accueil
Many of you have
generously donated
to the development
of this project, and
the exciting news is
that while 50
children had been
living in one of the tent cities in the slums of
Port au Prince only last April, by June they
were moved into a large, secure home in a
much safer part of the city. . ALL because of
your response to God’s call!
!
Due to Doug’s retirement from the position of
Executive Director of TLC (The Leadership
Connection), we believe that our financial
contributions to projects in Haiti will be more
easily managed by a separate account with
New Horizons
Foundations.
Doug will
continue to
collaborate with
Pastor Dale
Barrett as the
Pastor Training
program there continues.

Other Opportunities:
Pastor Julio’s Family
**The Jesus Film
$3000 will get Pastor Julio
started on a small house.
He has already purchased a
lot outside of town.
Pastor Gilbert, an evangelist at heart, would
love to have the equipment to show “The
Jesus Film” (produced by Campus Crusade)
throughout his island country. $4,000 would
provide him with a solar powered
backpack set that would allow him to
show the movie anywhere in Haiti to
groups up to 1000 people. Considering that
our 2013 Great Exchange Covenant Church
VBS team presented the Good News to
several groups of over 600 children, Pastor
Gilbert definitely needs to be prepared for a
large crowd!
**Replacement vehicle for Pastor Gilbert
Jules, preferably 4-wheel drive! (Have you
seen the gutted roads of Haiti?) Does anyone
have an extended cab truck that still runs well
that you would like to donate?

** $$ to fund housing for two pastor’s
families who lost their homes in the 2014
earthquake.
Commercial-sized Outdoor Kitchen: $1000
More
than 300
pastors
and their
spouses
attended
our
Marriage
Seminar
in February of 2014.
The challenge: How to feed them all?
Dr. Legette and her
team cooked 300
meals at their home,
10 minutes away and
then transported
them in Styrofoam
containers to the
church. By 2:30 p.m.,
all had been served.
What if the church had its own outdoor
kitchen?

$100/month for teachers’ salaries
Almost every church in Haiti has its
own Christian School. However, since
the majority of Haitians live on $1$2/day, the schools do not charge.
This is considered a ministry of the
church.

want you to beat, belittle or shame the
children! Having grown up with
these methods of school discipline,
these young Haitians know no other
way.
Would you join us in praying for these
young teachers who face intense
challenges every day with few or no
resources . . . except for their Creator
who walks with them into the
classroom!

Teacher Training II
Imagine being a recent high school
graduate, having no supplies, 40
students (or more) and no teacher
training! Where would you start on
the first day of school?
Last August, 27 teachers came for a
three day seminar in the art of
teaching. We used the Bible as our
text and explored four different
teaching techniques. The concepts
that were introduced were totally
foreign: God loves each child so much
and you are His representative in the
classroom; the most important job
you have is to communicate the good
news of Jesus Christ; God does not
So, on behalf of our brothers and
sisters in Haiti, we ask that you
remember them in prayer and with
your checkbook, as God calls you.
And please contact us if you are
hearing God’s call to join us on a trip
to Haiti in 2015.
