Cooperation
Do you know what the theme of the month is ? Well it is
cooperation. Cooperation is working collaboratively with others for a common
purpose. One example of cooperation in our school is Minute to Win it. When
you are showing cooperation you participate with your best effort, assume
positive intentions in others, follow rules established by the group, respect the
ideas and feelings of others and you value the contributions of others. Well
Fairview, now you know what cooperation is, let the
cooperating BEGIN!!!

Easter
Hey bunnies! Have you heard about
Easter? Easter is when the Easter bunny
hides the eggs and kids find them, some
eggs have chocolate and some maybe have
toys! What’s your favourite part in
Easter? Our favourite part is decorating
the eggs! Speaking of decorating eggs,
we'll tell you how it works! First use a
toothpick to poke one hole on each side of
the egg. Then, blow into one of the holes
until all the yolk comes out. After that let
it dry. Finally creatively paint it with
paint, markers, colour
etc. Did you have a
great Easter doing all
these fun stuff? We
did! We hope the next
Easter will be fun like
that!

March Break
By Nenna & Chowmiya
This article is going to be about how teachers spent their favourite day during March Break. One of the teachers that we
interviewed was Mrs. Mothersell. She is a Grade 5 teacher and
we chose to interview her about her favourite day on March
break. Mrs. Mothersell said that her favourite day was Wednesday because her and
her daughter Violet hung out together. On the way home Violet fell asleep in the car,
so Mrs. Mothersell parked beside a lake and read her book. When Violet woke up,
they went for a walk and then played at the park. It was a relaxing day for her.
We chose another teacher to ask about her March Break. It wasn’t actually a
teacher, but our Vice-Principal, Mrs. Culbert. Her favourite days during the March
break were Wednesday and Thursday because she went with her family to Niagara
Falls. They stayed in a hotel, visited the falls and went to the wax museum. They had
a fun mini vacation!!!!

So it was when students dressed in beach clothing like towels, flip flops and

Fairview Reads!
By:Mohammed Abu-Hijleh
Fairview students all love reading! So, guess what? We have reading programs! Blue Spruce is for Kindergarten to Grade 2 and Silver Birch is for Grade 3
to 5. In Blue Spruce program, teachers read the books to the students and the
students vote for their favourite book. In silver Birch, students read the books
themselves and then go to teachers who recommended the book. The teachers ask them questions
about the book, sign their reading sheet and the students vote. After an entire school vote, the
students go to the Hershey Centre, see what the other schools voted for and see which book was
voted for the most.
All of this was a fantastic event organized by Mrs. Sobie. On May 17th, we’ll see who the winners
are!
GOING GREEN
Do you know what month it is? Yes, it's April. But what is April? What month is April? Yes, it's Autism
Awareness month. Okay... what week is it going to be in April? Education Week, yes. What week is
Education Week? If you don't know, it's EARTH WEEK. Here are a few ways to go green:
1.
Walking to school instead of using a car.
2. Use renewable energy sources
3. Don't litter.
4. Pick up garbage around your community.
5. Join a green team.
6. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
7. Compost.
8. Drive hybrid or electric vehicles.

Grade 1 Field Trip:Jack Smythe Field Centre
By: Xenab and Melissa
Walk the bush ,collect the sap, take it all, to the sugar shack
Hey Fairview, what's up? Anyway, Have you heard of the Grade One Field trip?
All the Grade One classes went to Jack Smythe Field Centre. They said it was
FUN!! They learned how to make syrup now and in the pioneer times, walked in
the forest, used some maple syrup materials to gather syrup from the maple
tree, ate some syrup. We interviewed a girl in grade one named Kisha.
She told us about a machine that brought the colour ( dark brown ) to the
maple syrup and made it thick and sticky called an evaporator.
All of the grade one's got to taste the maple syrup. So Fairview, the next time you have maple syrup with pancakes/waffles,
think about the pioneers and how they got it then compared to
how we get it today!
Either way, it’s delicious.
