Head’s Message
Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a wonderful Summer holiday –
speaking to the children it sounds as if they did.
Welcome to our new members of staff to the

I am thrilled to announce the profit from the

Medical Information
Inhalers - The school must hold an inhaler at all
times for those children who have asthma. It is
not acceptable to bring in an inhaler on a daily
basis and take it home each day. Children will
not be permitted to take part in PE lessons or go
on school trips if they do not have their inhaler
with them clearly named.
Nut Allergy - The school is a nut free zone as we
have children in the school that have a severe
allergy to nuts. Please ensure your child does
not bring nuts into the school under any
circumstances. Thank you.
Other Medical Conditions - Also if your child
has a medical condition the school should be
made aware of please contact the school office.
Water Bottles/Fruit/Treat Friday
Please ensure each day your child brings to
school a water bottle filled with tap water and
labelled clearly with the child’s name.
Children in KS1 are offered a piece of fruit free
of charge daily at morning break and children in
KS2 have an option to purchase a piece of fruit
at 20p per piece. Children can of course bring
in their own snack but it must be fruit, snacks
other than fruit are not permitted.
Treat Friday continues each week where a
cake or biscuit can be purchased at 20p. One
purchase per child is allowed.
Dinners in School
We encourage families to take advantage of
the lovely freshly cooked dinners that our
excellent cooks, Mrs Cocking and Mrs Hill,
provide each day. Please order using the
parentpay secure website. The deadline is
Monday for meals the following week. If you
have any difficulties booking on line please
contact the school office who will be happy to
help you.
Wake “n” Shake
After the school achieving it’s Healthy Schools
Silver award we are now going for Gold! One of
our aims this year is to offer more opportunities
to get active, so starting Monday 12th
September 8.30-8.40am we will be running a
Wake “n” Shake on the KS2 playground,
wooden Gazebo, to start the day. Adults are
free to join in as well. Parents will be
responsible for their children as normal before
the school day.

Holiday Absence
A reminder that the Policy of governors at Holy
Family is that holiday absence will not be
granted to pupils during school terms except in
exceptional circumstances. If holidays are taken
without authorisation, parents need to be aware
that this will be recorded as unauthorised.
Children’s’ attendance is monitored regularly and
unauthorised absences may trigger a Penalty
Notice fine for each parent for each child. To
make a request for absence you should complete
an absence request form which can be found in
the school foyer and must wait for a response
from myself prior to committing.
Wider Opportunities Clubs
A reminder to Parents, that the Wider
Opportunities clubs will commence next week.
Please ensure you have returned your child’s
permission slip prior to their club starting.
Breakfast and After School Clubs
Breakfast and After school clubs will
continue to be available Monday to Friday as
follows:
Breakfast Club- 7.30-8.30am
After School Club- 3-5pm
Registration and booking forms are available on
the school website or via the foyer.
Photographer
The photographer will visit the school on
Thursday 29th September to take family and
pre-school photographs. Photos of individuals
and siblings will be taken throughout the school
day. The photographer will be available from
8.15am in the hall for family groups with preschool children.
Parking
Parents are reminded to park responsibly when
dropping off and picking up their children. Parents
are encouraged to use the church car park.
Holy Family also encourages families to use the 5
minute walk zone. 5 minute walk zone leaflets are
available in the school foyer. Thank you.
School Grounds
Please note:
- Children are not permitted to ride their
bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
- In the mornings only Y5 and Y6 to be
unsupervised by the bike sheds and then
to go straight to the playground.
- For health and safety reasons children are
not allowed on the school mound.
- After school only Y5 and Y6 with
permission are allowed to go home
unaccompanied. They must be prompt
when leaving the school grounds. Any
child abusing this privilege will not be
allowed to go home unaccompanied.

School Uniform/PE Kit Requirements
I attach a copy of the school’s uniform policy. If
you are unsure of any details please let the
school office know who will be happy to help
you. Please ensure long hair is tied back and
only stud earrings are worn.
Free Maths, English & IT Courses
Would you like to improve your chances of
gaining employment?
New College are offering courses in Maths,
English and IT starting in September. (Free to
those on benefits). Please see the posters on

Old Town – Autumn Fayre
Christ Church Old Town is the venue for the
Old Town Autumn Fayre on Saturday 17th
September 12noon till 4pm. There’ll be craft
and heritage stalls, plants to brighten up your
garden, local produce and a bee and honey
stand as well as delicious food outlets and live
music.

Crossing Patrol – Vacancy
I am sad to report that Mrs Williams, school
crossing patrol officer, last day is today.
Unfortunately this will mean that there will be no
school crossing patrol officer until further notice. If
anyone would be interested in applying for the
post, please contact Swindon Borough Council

SCHOOL UNIFORM POLICY
1.
School Clothing
All children are expected to wear the school uniform and have a PE kit in school
each day. Outer garments should be of a suitable dark colour and no fashion
garments, including football type tops, are allowed. Clothing should be plain or
with the school logo. Brand names/designer labels or advertising is not allowed.
1.1
Boys
Black/dark grey school trousers
White shirt/polo shirt
Burgundy sweatshirt
(Plain or school logo)
Black, grey or white socks
Black or brown school type shoes
During the summer:
Short black/dark grey trousers
Strapped sandals-Black/brown/white – socks to be worn

In school sensible, flat heeled, footwear must be worn. Heels, backless sandals
and fashion shoes can be dangerous on the playground or stairs and are not
allowed. Boots are not allowed to be worn in school.
Trainers do not form part of the normal day school uniform.

All uniform should be clearly labelled with the child’s name.

PE
Plain black PE shorts (not leotards or cycling shorts)
Plain white T-shirt (no designs or designer labels)
School or plain dark track suits may be worn.
Daps/plimsolls (slip on type are best for younger children)
For junior age children – trainers for outdoor use (these should not have to be an
expensive brand).
PE kit should be contained in a named PE bag and brought to school at the
beginning of each half term. It should remain in school and be taken home for
washing at the end of each half term
No Jewellery, including watches, must be worn for PE, except for small stud
earrings that cannot be removed by the child.
3.
Swimming
For KS2
Towel and swimsuit (no bikinis or Bermuda shorts)
Hair caps are recommended otherwise long hair should be tied back
Goggles are not permitted without written permission from the school.
4.
General
Jewellery is not allowed except for a watch and small stud earrings. Only single
stud earrings may be worn where ears are pierced.
Hoops or large earrings should not be worn for safety reasons.
Extreme hairstyles, artificially coloured hair and the use of gel are inappropriate
for children at this age and are not allowed.
Long hair must be tied back for health and safety reasons.
Outdoor clothing must be plain and suitable for cold weather. Tracksuit tops are
not suitable. Brand names/designer labels or advertising is not allowed.
Hats may be worn for protection in extreme weather (hot or cold).
Make-up and nail varnish is not allowed to be worn.
Book bag to be used for reading books.








