Our 12 hole course is unique and is a challenge for all golfers. Gogarburn Golf Club is affiliated to the Scottish Golf Union. Our handicap competitions are played over 18 holes at Gogarburn. There is no limit to the number of guests a member introduces. A member may admit up to ten guests to the clubhouse at any one time. Booking tee times at Gogarburn is simplicity itself. On line booking is now available or a starter is on duty to take bookings from 8.00am until 6.00pm throughout the summer and from 9.00am until 3.00pm during the winter or you can book through the terminal situated in the clubhouse. Gogarburn Golf Club Membership Information 2017 At Gogarburn we pride ourselves in the fact that we actively encourage junior golf at all levels. We currently have five Level 1 Coaches and we offer juniors the opportunity to attend coaching sessions between April and August at a very reasonable cost. With assistance from our many helpers we deliver coaching throughout the summer, not only to our junior members but in association with Clubgolf we play host to children from neighbouring primary schools In addition to the formal competitions detailed in our syllabus there are several other ways to enjoy your membership at Gogarburn. A group of ladies meet every Monday lunchtime and play ‘just for fun’. There is an ‘over 65s’ group of men who play an informal 12 hole competition on the first Tuesday of every month. There is an Over 55 Club of gents who play every Tuesday and every Thursday throughout the year. They meet at 9.00am in the clubhouse, the draw takes place at 9.15 and the first tee off time is 9.28. Members at Gogarburn have the facility to pay any amount towards their next year’s subscription using their swipe card. The transaction is made at the bar letting the bar person know that the money is to be credited to their subs purse. This money is held in a separate bank account then transferred when the subscriptions are due. To pay by direct debit you must make your own arrangement with a lender or broker. It must be noted that the lender’s normal credit arrangements apply. Further information on payment of subscriptions is available from the Treasurer. Other Information The course and clubhouse closes on 25th and 26th December and 1st and 2nd January each year. We do have a New Year’s Day game so watch the notice boards for information. We currently employ two full time greens staff, one full time bar steward and a part time barperson. We currently employ three part time starters and four students who cover the starting duties at the weekends. The clubhouse is available to members for hire for functions. Gogarburn Golf Club Membership Information 2017 Joining Process Once you have completed the form attached simply return it with payment to The Treasurer, Gogarburn Golf Club, Hanley Lodge, Roddinglaw Road, Newbridge EH28 8NN. You will then receive your bag tag, year sticker, member insurance card and fixture list. In the package you will find a discount swipe card which monies can be added on to and be used at the bar. Year stickers and fixture lists are distributed to all members during February each year with their Annual General Meeting notification and copy of the Club’s Annual Accounts. Management Information The management of the club consists of four trustees, The Captain, The Vice-Captain, The Secretary and The Treasurer together with twelve other Council Members. Council meet on the first Thursday of every month throughout the year and any member wishing to raise any matter must write to the Secretary who will raise the matter at the next convened council meeting. Any decision or ruling agreed by the majority of members present at the convened meeting shall be final. The financial year runs from 1 December to 30 November. The Club’s Annual Accounts are prepared by The Treasurer and vouched for by Gibson McKerrell Brown LLP. A copy of the accounts is distributed during February to every member together with an invitation to attend the Annual General Meeting held on the second Wednesday in March each year. Competition Information Monthly Medals - Gents medals are played on the first Saturday of each month from April - September. Competition entry opens 21 days prior to the date of play and closes 2 days before the day of play. There are three categories within each competition - A, B and C section with the first three in each section automatically qualifying for the Medal Final played at the end of the season. Ladies Medals - Ladies medals are played throughout the year from April to September with three medals on a Thursday and three on a Sunday. The competition sheet is posted on the ladies board and opens Gogarburn Golf Club Membership Information 2017 two weeks before the date of play and closes 2 days before the day of play. The draw takes place and members are notified either by e-mail or by phoning the starter on duty. The top three in each competition automatically qualifies for the Medal Final. Gents Tankards - Gents Tankard competitions are played on every alternate Wednesday from April to August. As with the monthly medals the competition opens 21 days prior to play but there is no closing date. Entries will be taken at any time up to and on the day of the Tankard. There are three categories of winners - A, B and C section with the first three in each section automatically qualifying for the Tankard Final which is played the first Wednesday in August. Ladies Spoons - Ladies spoons are played throughout the year from April to September with three spoons on a Thursday and three on a Sunday. The competition sheet is posted on the ladies board and opens two weeks before the date of play and closes 2 days before the date of play. The draw takes place and members are notified either by e-mail or by phoning the starter on duty. The top three in each competition automatically qualifies for the Spoon Final. Handicap Singles and Handicap Doubles played over 18 holes - entry sheets posted on Opening Day either at the end of March or beginning of April. The draw takes place and is posted on the notice boards. This applies to ladies and gents. Handicap Singles and Handicap Doubles played over 12 holes (3/4 handicap) entry as above. Gents Championship - three categories A B and C. Championship qualifiers are Captain’s Trophy, Roddinglaw Trophy and June Medal. Eight members in each section with the lowest 36 hole aggregate scratch scores from the qualifying rounds will contest the matchplay rounds. Finals are played over 36 holes and all qualifiers must be able to play in all rounds of the Club Championship. Senior Championships Over 50 and 65 competition eight qualifiers . Final over 18 holes on championship day. Ladies Championship - ladies currently have only one Championship which covers all abilities of golfers. The lowest 36 hole aggregate scratch scores from the three qualifying rounds will contest the matchplay rounds. Finals are played over 18 holes and all qualifiers must be able to play in all rounds of the Club Championship.
