Break-up for Half Term Holidays School closes at 3.15pm (EYFS and KS 1) and 3.20pm (KS 2) on Friday 24th October Pupil Premium Many children are entitled to Free School Meals. Even if your child does not wish to have the hot meal provided or is a child in Key Stage 1 that is entitled to a free hot meal please can we encourage you to complete the paper work and register your child as it entitles the school to receive an extra £1,300.00 in funding to support your child in school. At Grange Primary School we will: Endeavour to narrow the gaps by using 1 -1 tuition. Use of Teaching Assistant to support for social and emotional development. Provide children will opportunities to experience new and exciting challenges that they might not always have access to through workshops, subsidised visits and in providing more technology to support independent learning. Provide early support strategies and resources for those who need additional help in reading, writing and maths. Ensure all staff are comprehensively trained to deliver high quality teaching. Note to parents: We encourage all parents and carers to check if you think your child may be entitled to Free School Meals due to your family’s income level or if they have a parent who is a member of the armed services. If you are unsure please contact Mrs Boyd, Mrs Plaskitt or Mrs Fawn (in confidence) and they can help you to register your child. Even if you do not wish them to have meals, by registering them the school can still claim the Pupil Premium Funding that can then be used to help your child. 100% Attendance. Holidays Please remember that due to changes in the law the school can no longer authorise holidays during term time, unless the circumstances are exceptional. At the end of the school year we held a draw for all the children who had received 100% attendance over the school year and the winner received a new bike. Here is the proud owner and his new bike. Please ensure that your holiday is authorised before booking it. It is a fantastic achievement from all children who had 100% attendance. School Uniform We expect every child from Nursery upwards to wear the school uniform everyday and comply with the requested details below. Jewellery On Health and Safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery to school. The exceptions to this are one small, smooth stud in each ear and a plain, appropriately sized, proper watch. We ask the children to remove these during PE or swimming. If they cannot be removed because of recent piercing only, they will need to cover them with a plaster brought in from home until the six weeks is up (except for swimming when they must be removed). This is to prevent them from causing injury. Adults in school are not permitted to remove pupil’s earrings. This is the responsibility of the child or parent. Any jewellery worn in school is the direct responsibility of the parent and child. Haircuts The school does not permit children to have haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children. For example, mohicans or shaved patterns. All children, girls and boys, are requested to tie hair up where it is long enough to do so especially for PE. Makeup, nail varnish and tattoo transfers must not be worn in school. Pupils will be asked to remove make up and nail varnish immediately.
