Kimberly King
“The Future belongs to those who believe in the
beauty of their dreams.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
Presented by Dee Aker,
Ph.D. Interim Director,
Joan Kroc Institute for
Peace & Justice
Kimberly King is a visionary, humanitarian and
global change agent who believes in the 'beauty of
dreams." Kimberly's dreams of peace and
compassion for others have taken her around the world supporting community
projects in Africa, Asia, South America, Australia and beyond.
Kimberly brings diverse experience to her work with women's empowerment:
creating education campaigns for global issues; forging partnerships for
community development; and creating new concepts in the fields of social
entrepreneurship and transformative philanthropy.
Her esteemed clients list encompasses fortune 500's, NGO's, city governments,
broadcast media and the United Nations. These include: American Express,
The City of LA, NBC; the Chopra Foundation, Ethical Marketplace, Alliance
for a New Humanity, the World Trade Center Association; and the UNFPA.
Kimberly is a Co-founder of the Sophia Women’s World Conference and
Sophia Circles Global Action Network, and Co-President of The Peace
Company. She serves as a Steward for the Institute for Strategic Clarity and
member of the Global Leadership Council for the Women, Faith and
Development Alliance.
It is with great pleasure that we honor Kimberly King's many contributions to
women around the world with our first-ever Eleanor Roosevelt Global
Humanitarian Award, in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, for which Eleanor was a key visionary and
architect.
We extend this award to Kimberly on October 11, 2008 -- which is also
Eleanor Roosevelt's birthday.
