Basic Lemonade Recipe from Real Simple Magazine
Ingredients (Makes approximately 6 cups)
1 ½ c. freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 12 lemons)
½ c. sugar, honey or other sweetener
6 cups water
Lemon slices to garnish
Ice
In large pitcher, combine 1 c. water with the lemon juice and sugar. Stir until sugar
dissolves, then add the remaining 5 c. water. Store in the refrigerator until cold or add ice
immediately and serve. Add a few slices of lemon to garnish.
Lavender Lemonade
Prepare lavender infusion in advance:
1 cup boiling water
1 Tablespoon lavender flowers – Organic preferred
In a cup or small bowl, pour boiling water over lavender flowers. Let sit 5 minutes
covered. Strain and store in refrigerator until use - You can store several days. Add about ¼ cup
of infusion to 3 ¾ c. - 4 c. of lemonade. Taste and adjust flavors as needed.
Hibiscus Lemonade
Add 2 c. boiling water to 4 hibiscus teabags or 2 tablespoons dried bulk hibiscus. Cover and let
sit (steep) for about 5 minutes. Strain and store in refrigerator until ready to use (up to 2 days).
Add to about 4 cups lemonade and serve over ice
Ginger Lemonade
Grate some fresh ginger onto cheesecloth then squuze by hand to extract the juice into a little
dish. Add slowly to lemonade to get just the right amount you like. Serve iced or hot
