Prefix f"m-, Synonyms, and Antonyms
The prefix /m- means "not." When im- is added to the
beginning of a word, it creates an antonym of the base
word. For example, the word perfect becomes imperfect.
Synonyms are words with the same, or nearly the same, meaning.
For example, giant, huge, and massive are all synonyms.
Antonyms are words that mean with opposite, or nearly
opposite, meanings. An antonym for empty is full and an
antonym for dull is exciting.
Remember the prefix in- also means "not."
You must be careful to choose the correct
prefix when creating a word's antonym. For each word
below, circle its correctly formed antonym.
