Dear Parents & Students,
November, 2014
I would like to introduce you to the Kennesaw State University String Project, a program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students to receive group instruc@on on the violin, viola, cello, or double bass. If your child would like to learn to play a stringed instrument (violin, viola, cello, or string bass), we urge you to take advantage of this excellent opportunity! The program is intended for beginning students, so no prior experience is necessary. Students will learn instrument technique, ear training, orchestral ensemble skills, and will gain the ability to read music. We would like to start a new beginning-‐level class at Pitner star<ng this January! See the reverse side for details about our parent mee<ng on Tuesday, December 9.
The class will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30-‐4:45 PM. Students will need to obtain their own instrument through a music store rental program (Please do not purchase an instrument without consul@ng us.) Classes will meet approximately 14 @mes each semester the year and follow a Cobb/KSU academic calendar. At the end of each semester, students perform a concert on stage at the KSU School of Music! The tui<on is just $50 per semester! This equates to a mere $2.85 per instruc@onal hour. Compared to the $20-‐40 hourly rate of tradi@onal music lessons, we are an incredible value.
Our website, www.kennesawstringproject.org, has a lot of important informa@on about the program, frequently asked ques@ons, and other useful links. We hope that you will explore our website to learn more about the KSU String Project!
Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in learning more about the program. You can also register online at hMp://www.kennesawstringproject.org.
Sincerely,
The KSUSP is Sponsored by grants from:
