Contract: Part-Time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term for 10 months

Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is a forward thinking, contemporary and

This is a new and pivotal fixed-term academic project opportunity at Trinity Laban and you
will be responsible for progressing and cultivating Learning & Teaching initiatives relating to
specific Technology Enhanced Learning projects to develop our resources and infrastructure
in digital learning platforms. You will be working on specific curriculum development initiatives
to support programme teams realise their vision in creating blended and digital courses,
primarily in the Faculty of Music but also liaising with colleagues in the Faculty of Dance. The
role will also provide support for our teaching staff in utilising the new resources that you
create by collaborating with our E-learning Technologist to run development sessions and
offering mentoring to individuals. Additionally, you will lead on creating a digital literacy
framework, developed in consultation with our teaching staff that supports our colleagues in
their own professional development.
To join our team you should be a dynamic educator with a passion for helping others develop
their own teaching practice through technological innovation, educated to postgraduate level
and have previously held a developmental or academic role in educational development or
the arts in an HEI. You will be experienced in supporting and leading educational initiatives
including supporting developing teacher capability in utilising TEL in their teaching practice
and you will also have excellent skills in working collaboratively across a variety of different
departments. In addition, you will have a good knowledge of current Learning & Teaching
issues in the HE sector. Experience and knowledge of music and/or dance in an HE context
would be helpful.

PURPOSE AND CONTEXT OF THE ROLE
This post will provide support for the Head of Learning Enhancement and the wider
learning and teaching community in the development and management of projects
and other initiatives pertaining to Technology Enhanced Learning at Trinity Laban.
The role holder will use their knowledge and expertise in TEL to lead on the
development of resources and frameworks, and to advise, support and work with
teaching teams in developing appropriate teaching and learning materials. To
achieve this, the post holder needs to have a clear track record of initiating and
managing educational development projects that utilise technology. The post holder
will be working in collaboration across the institution with teaching and other
academic colleagues to promote enhancement in Learning & Teaching, developing
best practice and supporting the emergence of staff confidence in experimenting with
digital developments to support learning and teaching. Importantly the role holder will
provide a pedagogy-focussed perspective to this development work in order to
understand the needs of teachers and learners and to develop appropriately aligned
resources.
KEY OBJECTIVES




To lead on the creation of teaching materials and associated dissemination
platforms that support a blended approach to curriculum delivery utilising our
Moodle VLE.
To promote Learning Enhancement activities across Trinity Laban, specifically
relating to Technology Enhanced Learning.
To develop a pedagogically focused Digital Literacy Framework for our specialist
Music and Dance context.
To work with the Trinity Laban E-Learning Technologist and IT Department to
ensure appropriately developed strategies for the creation of appropriate digital
platforms together with associated policies and frameworks deeply connected to
Institutional Learning & Teaching practices.

To support the delivery of Trinity Laban’s Learning & Teaching Plan, including
Academic Staff Development programming and the dissemination of good practice
relating to Technology Enhanced Learning.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES










To bring pedagogical insight in the leadership of the support provided to
programme development teams in the creation of blended and digital resources
for new and existing programmes.
To develop, propose and lead on the development of an institutional digital literacy
framework in collaboration with the E-Learning Technologist.
To liaise with the E-Learning Technologist in developing Moodle in relation to
programme development.
To add capacity to our TEL infrastructure in expanding the development
opportunities available to teaching staff via the delivery of a suite of developmental
opportunities including mentoring.
To collect monitoring and evaluation data in keeping with policies, and design and
develop mechanisms ensuring regular collection of key information.
To compile, or contribute to reports in liaison with appropriate Trinity Laban
colleagues and make presentations of these reports as required.
To develop approaches to communication relating to TEL processes that ensure
staff are informed and included in associated Learning & Teaching projects.
To assist with managing other projects and events, working occasional evenings
and weekends as required.
To be responsible for Technology Enhanced Learning projects identified by the
Head of Learning Enhancement.
To develop and deliver relevant Staff Development activity, including mentoring,
through their role in the development of TEL resources and practices.

To maintain an active profile within the field of educational development relating
to TEL.
To support colleagues, and keep under review this support, in developing the TEL
infrastructure environment.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE – SUMMARY AND STAFF BENEFITS
Contract:
Fixed Term for 10 months, part-time (0.8 FTE) , subject to a threemonth probationary period
Hours:
28 hours per week (with a daily lunch break of one hour).
Location:
You will be based at the Faculty of Music in Greenwich (King Charles
Court, Old Royal Naval College) but may also be required to work at
the Faculty of Dance in Deptford (Laban Building, Creekside) and offsite.
Salary:
The salary for the post will be in accordance with the Trinity Laban
Staff Salary Scale, Grade 7, Incremental Points 30 - 36, £28,160.80 £33,050.40 p.a. (£35,201 - £41,313 p.a. pro-rata) inclusive of a
London Weighting Allowance of £2,836 p.a. (£3,545 p.a. pro-rata).
Salaries are paid on the last working day of the month into bank or
building society accounts
Annual Leave:
32 days (40 days pro rata) in addition to Statutory, Bank and Public
Holidays .
Pension Scheme:
The successful candidate will be auto-enrolled in to either The Teachers’
Pension or the Universities Superannuation Scheme. The Conservatoire
currently pays the Employers contribution of 16% of pensionable salary
to the USS and 14.1% to the TPS.
Sick Pay:
Trinity Laban operates the Statutory Sick Pay Scheme, and staff may
be eligible for benefits in excess of this under Trinity Laban’s own sick
pay scheme.

The Laban Library & Archive (Faculty of Dance) and the Jerwood
Library of the Performing Arts (Faculty of Music) are available for use.
