Payments:
We are pleased to say that we can take card payment in the nursery and over the phone.
Baby and Toddler Room Toddle
Our usual preferred method of payment is Direct
Debit.
You can still pay by Childcare Vouchers (we are
registered with all companies), and Direct Banking.
Please ensure payments are received at the latest
by the 15th of each month.
The Baby and Toddler children will be taking part in a toddle around
the campus on Friday 17th July 2015 at 2-3pm. The children will be
given home sponsor forms to help raise money for our chosen charity.
All children and parents are welcome in the baby and Toddler room. If
you child does not attend on this day a parent or carer must
accompany them.
Fun Day
The Fun Day will be held in our nursery garden on Saturday 18th July
2015 11am-1pm. There will be many fun activities and games for all the
family such as a bake sale, hook the duck, face painting and a raffle and
tombola. All children, parents, friends and family are welcome to come
along and join in the fun.
We would be very grateful if any parents would like to donate some
prizes for our tombola and raffle.
All the money raised on our Fun Day will be donated to the Sick Kids
Friends Foundation. Hope to see you all there.

Here at Heriot-Watt we have been
focussing on our planting in our nursery
garden. The children in all the playrooms
have been looking after their playroom
planters and doing some weeding to keep
the flower beds fresh.
Parents forum
In our recent parent forum meeting held on Monday 6th July we discussed our previous meetings minutes and our
Nursery Fun Day which is on Saturday 18th July.
Charlotte who is a member of our parent forum has a great knowledge and passion for outdoor learning and
woodland play and therefore is going to be supporting Ilaina on the Fun Day with doing an introduction to woodland
play. An itinerary of the woodland activities on the Fun Day will be up around the nursery soon.
If you would like to participate on the Fun Day by helping out at a stall, bake some cakes or bring in some raffle
prizes please contact your room supervisor or a member of the management team.
The parent forum team meets up once every term to discuss upcoming nursery events, improvements of the
nursery, nursery news and other relevant topics parents would like to discuss. The parent forum is open to all
parents and if you would like to join our team please contact Lisa Murray the Nursery Manager or Kayleigh Morris
the Deputy Manager.
Our teacher news
Our company teacher Jenni Gibson, supports and implements educational experiences
throughout all Pre-school playrooms in Pinocchio’s. The experiences Jenni implements are
all child centred and guided by the Curriculum for Excellence.
Jenni spends teacher time in all branches with small groups of children, ensuring that all
children are working towards there next developmental milestone.
Jenni supported all staff on training to use the Learning Journals to build up your child’s
profile online. Jenni overseas all observations supporting children's individual learning
needs and achievements. If you would like any further information on teaching at

This month I have been around each of the Nurseries focusing on developing
our Floor books, and implementing the training from the training day, with
the staff and children. We have been doing 3D Mind maps using the Talkaround mat which the children have really enjoyed. The staff and children
will continue to develop these throughout the summer".
I will be on Holiday from Friday 3rd of July and Will return on Monday the
17th of August, I hope you all have a great summer. Best of Luck to all of
the children going to school.
Staff news
Congratulations to Lauren Peacock who got engaged to her fiancé Stuart last month. We wish you all the best.
Congratulations to all the heriot-Watt team who have worked
so hard and were awarded the Spirit of Heriot-Watt award this
year. My self and Kayleigh are very proud of all the team
achieve . The team will be celebrating along with our Directors
and head office team with a lovely meal.
Room news
Baby Room
The Baby room children have recently been exploring under the sea animals. The
children enjoyed getting messy in the paint whilst painting the deep blue sea and also made some
friendly crabs with their hand prints. The children have really enjoyed the animal topic so the
playroom has decided to explore farm animals next, taking the babies out for walks up to the duck
pond to see the ducks and swans and many more fun activities.
Toddler room
The Toddler room children have been learning all about our summer season. They
have participated in many art and craft activities such as gluing ice lollies and have also been exploring
their senses through playing in the sand and water. Some of the children in the Toddler room are
expecting a new brother or sister soon. The children have been role playing with the baby dolls,
bathing them in the baby bath, rocking them to sleep in the cot and helping look after them.
Junior Room
The Junior room have recently been learning all about our summer season and how
we keep safe in the sun. The children know they need their sun hats and sun cream on before going
outside and know they need to drink lots of water from their water bottles. The children have
participated in loads of fun art and craft activities such as making flip flops, painting the sunshine and
painting the garden with ice cubes and water. We will now be moving on to explore musical
Instruments, making our own instruments and having musical song times.
Pre-school Room The children in the Pre school room are exploring their under the sea topic, looking
at the various animals and participating in various arts and crafts activities. The are also learning
their 3D shapes and will be going on a 3D shape hunt in the playroom and outside. Some of the
children have shown an interest in writing their own surname, the teachers in the playroom are helping
the children with this by visual aid and support.
Sports day and Graduation
We would like to thank all the staff, children, parents and family who
attend our Sports Days and Graduation. The children had lots of fun
and all their practising paid off as they were all super at their races.
The graduation was a big success as well as being very emotional saying
good bye to our school leavers. We would like to wish all the children
going to school all the best in the future, they will be missed lots by
their friends and teachers here at Pinocchio’s.
Most of the photos taken from our Sports Day and Graduation will be
published on our Pinocchio’s at Heriot-watt Facebook page. We will also
be having two displays up in the nursery. If you would like photos
emailed please do not hesitate to ask.

Our new website
We are delighted to say that we have launched our new website. We
hope you like it!
New features:
Modernised look and new background graphics
Able to use it on a tablet or phone
Our parent zone has been improved, and we have put helpful documents on here including policies
and procedures, term dates for term time children and uniform ordering etc
Parents will be able to pay their fees online
Newsletters will be available on the website for each nursery
We have updated all our photos of the nurseries
We also now have photos of our Managers, Deputies, Team Leaders and Chefs
Our news articles will be more regular and we can have photographs and links in there also
We are now able to update the website ourselves
Parents will be able to register a child’s placement online
