Ziegler History

On Monday – and for the first time in the history
of Ziegler - all executives and many employees
of the Ziegler production and sales locations
met to experience their new identity.
On the following day our national and
international partners were our special guests
and in the middle of the week the Ziegler New
Horizons was host to our important international
customers.
Ziegler ”New Horizons” – a complete
Success (S. Häußler)

From April 7 to 12, 2014 Albert Ziegler GmbH
welcomed about 4,000 visitors from more than
40 countries at the headquarter in Giengen.
The content of this in-house exhibition was
organized by the whole Ziegler group of
companies and resulted in an extensive
presentation by means of 13 “demonstration
islands” and three adventures, such as an
offroad test drive, a tour of the manufacturing
facilities and a visit to the new company
museum.
On the tour of the islands the diversity, flexibility
and above all the German quality of the fire
vehicles and other products were shown.
The main German VIPs from the firefighting
authorities and associations enjoyed their tour
of the islands in small groups on Thursday.
Have fun during browsing!

A letter from Ziegler Rendsburg about “New
Horizons“ (H. Hagge)
On Friday – open doors day - fire services from
all over Germany invaded the new world of
Ziegler with great enthusiasm and curiosity.
Having used about 1,200 l of Diesel, driven
about 10,000 km (with 4 fire service vehicles, 2
passenger cars, and 2 vans), having given
assistance at an accident and after more than
500 working hours, having worked through two
weekends, hurting legs for 8 days, a lot of
presentations and some nights with hardly any
sleep ….. we would like to say THANK YOU!
We had a marvelous time with our colleagues
from all over the world.
This means:
One company, one brand, one goal!
The Ziegler group of companies has taken a
great step forward and we are very proud to be
part of it!
Through the presentation of the new strong
parent company CIMC and the many
production and sales locations in Germany and
abroad, a growing global and holistic Ziegler
group can be felt through the look in the eyes of
our employees. The daily programme was
tailored to the individual visitors.
And then on Saturday families and friends of
Albert Ziegler GmbH were invited to experience
New Horizons and were convinced, now we
truly are:
One group, one brand, one goal.

The Historical Exhibition is here to stay
(P. Thompson)
A warm Thank you to the experienced
retirees who returned during New Horizons
to man the museum!
(K.-H.Winkler)
A star attraction during „New Horizons“ was the
brand new Ziegler Museum. This exhibition
offers visitors the possibility to learn details
about the tradition and heritage of the brand
Ziegler, through the 123 year history of the
company.
Dr. Li said in December of last year: “People
who do not know the history, cannot understand
the identity. And people who do not understand
the identity, cannot realize the potential.”
At New horizons Mr. Jürgen Dorn, Jörg Hitzler,
Heinz Nuiding and Richard Diemer supported
us in the museum with their rich knowledge.
Mr. Dorn was allowed to tell the story of Ziegler
at the opening of the Historical building, with Dr.
Li Yinhui.
He asked that a small museum be prepared in
time for New Horizons and it turned out to be
one of the real highlights of our week long
event.
The reaction was so overwhelmingly positive,
Dr. Li decided this museum will remain open, as
is, and be made available to all Ziegler
employees.
You are welcome to use this exhibition.
Any visitors can be shown our museum and this
includes suppliers, customers, partners and
school classes etc.
Mr. Diemer ringing the “Good Luck Bell”
Our company museum is a tool to be used to
enhance the image of our brand.
Please use it. The key can be picked up at the
front entry guard post.
Before taking the guests inside you should
enter the museum from the back, and turn on
the lights, music, and sound effects so that
when you pick up your guests through the front
door, the museum will be ready to receive
them.
A leaflet with important information and
answers to organizational issues will be
published by the marketing department shortly.
Mr. Hitzler returns to his old stomping grounds.

South Europe continues to rely on Ziegler
quality
(A. Konakci)
Once more the high customer satisfaction is
reflected in the orders for a total of 7 TLFs,
which we received in March 2014 from South
East Europe. 5 TLFs 20/25-2 on MB U 500 for
a planned delivery in the Summer of 2014 as
well as 2 TLFs 30/20-5 on MB U 400 (railroad
vehicles) for delivery in Autumn 2014.
ZIEGLER at MAN Trucknology Days 2014
(H. Mayr)
Delivery of 5 TLFs 30/40-6 to South East
Europe
(A. Konakci)
This year the MAN Trucknology Days took
place in bright sunshine on March 20 and 21 at
the MAN Forum and the adjacent testing
ground in Munich.
With a huge crowd of approx. 10,000 visitors
the interest has never been greater.
The EURO 6 was presented as a special
novelty. Aside from Ziegler only one other
manufacturer introduced a superstructure on
Euro 6. Ziegler was strongly represented with
the following vehicles:
In March of this year five further pumper tanker
trucks TLF 30/40-5 were delivered to South
East Europe. Our subsidiary Ziegler Croatia
built these vehicles. The customer bought 29
vehicles of this type in 2010 and 2011 and they
are very satisfied with the performance and
reliability of the Ziegler vehicles, which are used
daily. Also this order proves that the customer
relies on the solid workmanship and robust
reliability of our vehicles.

Caucasus order for 2 pump units
(A. Konakci)
Ziegler has received an order for the delivery of
two pump units FPN 10-3000-1A. Pump
performance 3,000 l/min. The pump units will
be delivered together with fire fighting
accessories.
This customer has purchased several fire
service vehicles from Ziegler during the last few
years and relies on Ziegler, a synonym for
robust reliability.

Delivery of 3 MGV power blowers
(A. Konakci)
Our customers as well as competitors showed
great interest in our new Z-Cab on Euro 6
chassis and as expected there were many
questions. Our TOP Integro and the new design
on the Euro 6 chassis attracted the most
attention. A competitor commented: “Wow!
You guys have really set the bar high.
Compliments, this truck is a beauty.” It was not
surprising that the newly designed truck was
photographed over and over again. Our highquality construction could, as usual, convince
the experts of our premium quality. And for
many visitors the Z8 from the Munich airport
was a real eyecatcher.
The Ziegler team had many interesting
discussions with the customers and established
many new contacts.
_____________________________________
In February, 2014 we delivered three MGV
power blowers on MB Sprinter 516 CDI to
South East Europe. The mobile blowers were
built by our subsidiary Ziegler Mühlau and the
customer is very impressed by the performance
of these units. They are used for the safety of
the city dwellers and are characterized by high
reliability and strength.

Dr. Li visits German fire brigades from
Munich to Rendsburg
(H. Mayr)
March 31, 2014
The tour started at Fraport in Frankfurt, the
largest German airport, to discuss the structure
and requirements of an airport fire brigade with
the chief of the Fraport fire brigade Christian
Hahn and his deputy Markus Metzler. At this
opportunity they also viewed our 6 Z8XXL and
the airport facilities. In the afternoon Dr. Li
visited the Ministry of the Interior of Hessen in
Wiesbaden, to meet Mr. Milberg, the Ministerial
Director, and his staff. At present Ziegler is
building 50 LF KatS for the state of Hessen and
the ministry is very pleased with the design and
ontime delivery.
April, 1, 2014
We visited BAAINBw (Federal Office of the
German Army Equipment, Information
Technology and In-Service Support) in Koblenz.
The Bundeswehr was our largest customer in
Germany last year and are planning extensive
investments in the future. Dr. Li met the
responsible officials and expressed his thanks
for their trust in our company. In the afternoon
we travelled to Rendsburg and met the
president of DFV (Association of German
Firefighting Departments), Hans-Peter Kröger.
The DFV coordinates and represents the
interests of approx. 1.3 million fire fighters in
Germany. Most of them belong to volunteer fire
brigades.
April 3, 2014:
Expert engineering consulting companies who
assist communities and fire brigades in
purchasing firefighting vehicles are increasingly
used and are important contacts for Ziegler.
Therefore, we paid a visit to the KWL in
Hannover. KWL has been coordinating tender
acquisitions for communities for almost 20
years. After that we met Dr. Martin Schäfer,
Firefighting Chief at the professional fire
brigade in Göttingen. He, together with Ziegler,
has designed and then bought 3 HLFs on
Econic since 2000.
April 4, 2014-06-14
To gain a good understanding of all types of our
customers, we then visited a volunteer fire
brigade. At the fire station in Heidenheim not
only Rainer Spahr, Firefighting Chief, but also
the mayor of Heidenheim, Bernhard Ilg, and
George Feth from the district office came to
meet Dr. Li to learn first-hand about the
reorientation of the Ziegler Group. The
volunteer fire brigades are important customers
to Ziegler. They have the largest market share
of fire trucks and equipment in Germany. Dr.
Li’s tour ended in Munich at the second largest
airport in Germany and a special highlight for
Dr. Li was a high speed ride in our Z8 during
which he truly experienced the full power of this
vehicle. Dr. Li later commented that “he was
really pressed down into his seat”.
Conclusion:
Dr. Li now knows the structures of the fire
service in Germany and he has gotten to
personally know the key VIPs of the German
firefighting industry. He also had the opportunity
to hold very important discussions. He
successfully conveyed what CIMC’s plans are
with Ziegler, namely to build it up into one of the
world’s leading firefighting and rescue
companies with its HQ in Germany. The
customers highly appreciated his visit and
welcomed the start of a new era for Ziegler. In
figures: 10 important meetings in Germany and
2,400 km by car in one week.

A demonstration of the highest quality
(M. Schweitzer)
On April 17, 2014 Gerhard Müller and Michael
Schweitzer held a very special demonstration.
We were invited to Marktoberdorf by the leading
manufacturer of tractors, Fendt, and showed
our new product to the factory fire brigade. Both
Fendt and Ziegler advertise their premium
quality, and the participants were quickly very
enthusiastic about our vehicle. In particular the
workmanship and detail solutions were praised
by the experts. The Fendt slogan: “Whoever
drives a Fendt, leads” was changed to
“Whoever drives Fendt and Ziegler, leads. We
provide safety.”
The purchaser of the fire service equipment
was very enthusiastic about our common
identity based on robust reliable German
quality.
We are very confident and hope for an order
from Marktoberdorf.

April 2, 2014
Dr. Li visited our subsidiary in Rendsburg and
addressed the staff, who highly appreciated the
visit and especially Dr. Li’s personal address
which gave them confidence for the future. The
tour continued to Hamburg, to the second
largest professional fire brigade in Germany, to
explain the new orientation of Ziegler personally
to Klaus Maurer, the Commander and
Firefighting Chief.
We have sold the first Holmatro complete
rescue set. The success was based on the
teamwork of Beyerle/Eberman.

Delivery of 5 vehicles in Mühlau
On May 24, 2014 five telescopic access
platforms (TMB) for the state of Brandenburg
were delivered in Mühlau.
The TMBs are intended for the fire brigades in
Kleinmachnow, Fehrbellin, Bernau,
Müncheberg, and Premnitz.
Our stand was larger than last year and showed
the entire program of the Ziegler Group with
many innovations. With the bad weather on
Wednesday and Thursday – cold, wind and rain
– our vehicle crew cabins, cargo spaces, and 3
tents turned out to be valuable assets for
meeting our customers. The weather improved
gradually and we were able to have many
discussions with interested potential customers,
and make new contacts.

Ziegler Compliance and
Corporate Culture
(P. Thompson)
Happy Salesmen!
Three proud Salesmen pick up their new cars in
Giengen.
On April 27 a practical seminar took place at
the Daimler Compliance Academy. During three
days
the
whole
Daimler
Compliance
organization,
including
Mrs.HohmannDennhardt, Board Member of Mercedes Benz
responsible for Compliance and Integrity for the
entire
Daimler
group,
presented
their
experiences with regard to compliance.
Many helpful tips and methods were shown and
these will be included in the future compliance
trainings here in our company.
The question, who is responsible for
compliance in a company, was a primary topic.
The answer is simple: Every employee in the
company! It is our job, to work with ethical
integrity and transparency, so that our business
activities will never be faced with idiotic risks.
Every salesman/woman, every purchaser, and
every decision maker in our company – all over
the world – must make his/her decision ethically
and legally correct. If there should be the
slightest doubt, do not hesitate to contact a
member of the compliance committee.
To ensure that everyone at Ziegler complies
with the rules, the compliance committee
performs unannounced spot checks regularly.
We thank all the authors for their
contributions and support.
If you have ideas for us, please send them
to the marketing department, Mrs. Sylvia
Bredl.
Time and time again something special:
In the beginning of June we had another visit by
kindergarten children. This time it was the
kindergarten in Memminger Wanne in

they had a lot of fun!
