C.R.O.S.S. - Christ Rejoices in Our School Spirit March 21st-24th, 2016 Religion – We discussed that this is an important story about the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus and as we journey through Lent we should continue to work on our Lenten Promise. We discussed what Palm/Passion Sunday is and the importance of Holy Week. We reflected on the Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. I read the book “Benjamin’s Box that goes with my Resurrection Eggs. Do you know the names of the two thieves? Dismas was on the right side (the one who repented and asked Jesus to remember him in His Kingdom) and Gestas was on the left side (the one who rebuked Jesus). Reading/Language Arts – We reviewed the parts of a story: beginning, middle and end. They worked on the story “The Wet Cat.” They also worked on their Easter cards. Math – We are working on Unit 6 “Comparisons and Data.” We worked on organizing, representing and interpreting data. We did an Easter Egg subtraction worksheet. Science/Social Studies/Health – We finished working on our Physical Science unit on Matter. We discussed how all things are made up of matter and that each type of matter has its own set of principle. They learned that solids are made up of matter, have a size and shape, and that they take up space; that liquids are made up of matter, take the shape of the container they are in, have mass and can be seen, felt and poured; and that gases are made up of matter, take the shape of the container they are in and spreads out to fill all the space of what it is in, and can be colorless and odorless. Solids Liquid Gas Our Weekly Reader was “Hanging in My Habitat.” They learned about different habitats and the animals that live there. Have a wonderful, faith-filled Easter and may the Risen Lord bless you and your family.
