Ever since the very first occurrence of sport, humans have been trying to gain an
edge on the competition. Over time, more research and understanding of what goes
into aiding elite performance has evolved into sports science, a cutting edge element
of peak athletic performance. It is the desire to enhance athletic performance that
has sparked evolution in the way athletes train, prepare and compete.
Through the study of science and sport, researchers have developed a greater
understanding on how the human body reacts to exercise, training and different
environments.
Deakin University’s Associate Lecturer of Exercise and Sport Science Nathan Townsend
will present on “what is sports science” and then members of the Geelong Football Club
sports science team will provide insights into a day in the life of a sports scientist.
The session will be moderated by journalist and author Warwick Hadfield.
Places are limited and RSVPs are essential before Friday 30 June 2013 | Light refreshments will be served.
